Solid cheap Chinese food takeout.

Dumplings 9/10- insanely good and I’m super picky. Dripping sauce was really good too.

LoMein 6/10- it was fine, could have used a little more flavor or sauce on it

Crab Rangoon 3/10 over fried and not doughy enough. Was more cream cheese than crab

Couldn’t add notes for extra duck sauce with my takeout order. But they did add a side of duck sauce and dumpling sauce with order.

This is my first time writing a review for a restaurant. Disclaimer: I’ve only ordered takeouts so I cannot comment on the service. But the food here is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Like, seriously just delicious. The dumplings were SO GOOD, and I ordered salt&pepper squid the other day and it was PERFECT. Very tasty. I’m gonna order more for them. The only complaint I have is the ridiculously long food prep time.. Other than that I would order from it every single day.

Convenient late-night Chinese takeout spot with mediocre food.

Dumpling Kitchen was one of the first Chinese takeout spots I tried after moving to Boston. Back then, my friends hyped it as their late-night lifesaver, but for me, the dumplings didn’t exactly surprise me.

As I explored more of Boston’s late-night Chinese food scene, Dumpling Kitchen quickly dropped off my radar. It’s not the worst option out there, but let’s just say “edible” is doing most of the heavy lifting here. Honestly, some grocery store frozen dumplings might give them a run for their money—and at least those don’t come with the sticker shock of premium prices for thick-skinned dumplings with bland fillings.

The classics didn’t do much better. Both the Mongolian Beef and Twice-Cooked Beef skimped on the meat and drowned in overly heavy sauces that muddied the flavors. The only dish that stood out was the shrimp fried rice, which, to be fair, is almost impossible to mess up.

In the end, Dumpling Kitchen is a place I’d maybe turn to in a pinch, but not a spot I’d crave. It’s like the friend who’s always there late at night but never leaves you truly satisfied.

The worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Nothing has flavor. It is so bland and oily. Mongolian beef should be called Mongolian onions and pepper because it had hardly any beef and no taste. Chicken lo mein zero taste. Crab Rangoon zero crab or imitation for that matter. Pork dumplings were terrible. Spent over 100 dollars for food that went in the trash. Save your self the money and taste buds and order somewhere else.

I ordered delivery from Grubhub on Christmas—from what was supposed to be ‘Asia Gourmet’ so I thought I was getting it from a well rated place in Malden instead of the badly rated Dumpling Kitchen in Somerville. Hands down, all the food was disgusting—general Tsaos—tasted like it was tossed in bbq sauce-gross. Pork fried rice didn’t have pork, it had chicken and it was not fried rice. Salt and pepper calamari was soggy and tasteless. Pu Pu platter was a mix of cruddy fried things that tasted all the same (no flavor other than fried) and some nasty spare ribs—fatty with no seasoning. I spent $110 all in on food, delivery and tip and have never felt more hosed. Hopefully we don’t wake up with food poisoning.

I’m not even hungry anymore. At least they gave extra ginger sauce as requested. Bag was stapled closed so this definitely came from the restaurant.

The food is just meh. Pad Thai – how can one make it so tasteless? Basically pasta. Dumplings are OK. I think this place should remove dishes that they are not good at.

DoorDash had this restaurant at a 4.7. Just came to rate them and I can see that they are correctly rated at 3.4! This food is absolutely TASTELESS! It tastes like a paper towel! We ordered the vegetarian lo mein and the beef wok flat noodles. They both taste the same…like a paper towel! So disappointing since we thought that being in the city, we would get good food. Nope!
Don’t be fooled by the pictures. They have no flavor.

Edamame is good and we often get a few. The fried rice is terrible while the general tso’s tofu is acceptable.

The pineapple fried rice uses a curry base to add flavor to the rice. Instead of seasoning the rice, it seems a curry brick was used as a shortcut to add flavor. It doesn’t taste good. Combined with too sweet canned pineapple, the dish is borderline more sweet than savory. At least the portion is huge.

The tofu in the general tso’s tofu (vegan) is of the fried variety. It is a little tough but the flavor is probably what you’d expect if you order it. There should definitely be more broccoli than the 4 pieces we got.

The worst Chinese food I have ever ordered in my life. The kung pao chicken was so salty I couldn’t taste anything but salt, the pieces of chicken were fatty and had skin attached, the crab Rangoon had what tasted like Philadelphia cream cheese and that’s all inside, dumplings were meh, the frozen ones from Trader Joe’s are better, house fried rice was disgusting. Good luck everyone!
