Social Profile:

Dumpling House SF is a family-owned business. We love this neighborhood, and every single person I’ve met here is so nice and willing to take the time to learn more about dumplings. Since everything is made to order, it might take a bit of time. However, it’s made with care and love. Dim Sum plays a big role in our menu, and our head chef in the back kitchen has been making dim sum for more than 20 years. Welcome to our dumpling wonderland;)

Dumplings, noodles & classic Asian bites, plus beer, wine & tea, served in a casual setting.

Our experience at this dumpling house was a mix of practical positives and some notable drawbacks.

On the plus side, the dumplings are decent, and the prices are fair. The steady stream of delivery drivers in motorcycle helmets suggests its main business is takeout. For walk-in customers like us, this meant there was no wait and plenty of available seating, which was a convenience.

However, the physical space could use some attention; it felt a bit shabby and worn. A more significant issue for us was the menu’s lack of vegetarian main courses. Aside from a few appetizers, there were very limited options for anyone in our party who was vegetarian, making it a difficult choice for a group with mixed dietary needs.

In summary, this is a functional spot for a quick, affordable meal of decent dumplings, especially if you’re dining in and want to avoid a wait. However, the shabby interior and the near-total lack of vegetarian entrees make it difficult to recommend for group dining or for those seeking a more polished experience.

As ordinary consumers, we are not paid or compensated in any way for this review. We offer this feedback to help other diners make an informed choice.

Only the Dan Dan noodle was good.
Dumpling is better at all other dumpling time and dumpling kitchen chains. Do not order the shrimp scallop mostly Flour and no shrimp taste the scallop is also the one that’s supposed to be dried for rice dish. The specialty Fried dumpling also too dry. All just too thick and dry. They also do not care about quality when I reported the shrimp. Other chain that has similar good quality Hayes, Fillmore, Noe (nearest to this Castro) and the Design district. Not comfy people too loud. Other Chain also lots of people and loud but within social standard

My new favorite spot in SF! Cozy vibes, super friendly staff who make you feel instantly welcome, and some of the tastiest dumplings and noodles around. Great prices, flavorful drinks, and they also offer takeaway—perfect when you want their delicious food at home. A true neighborhood treasure!

On my ‘must-go-back-sooner-than-later’ list!
YUMMY – delicate – flavors well developed

Very professional and friendly staff, mellow atmosphere for quite a busy spot.

Decoration and (silent) tv on Chinese cooking channel making one appreciate even more the talent it takes to produce such tasty bites.
It feels as though the kitchen is cooking per order rather than batch cooking as in most other dim sum places.

Comments on the dishes I ordered as captions per photo.

Truth be told: I had just gone for dim sum at a very popular and celebrated restaurant in a SF nearby city and left curiously unsatisfied compared to my previous time there.

It was cold and we found soup. Won ton soup with delicious won tons and baby bok choy that was vibrant while tender…so tender. The broth was light, not salty.
We also enjoyed soup dumplings that were so fresh, hot, and tasty, the black vinegar with slivers of ginger. As well as the won tons in chili sauce (yes, please…to embarrassed to order second serving) Salt and Pepper chicken wangs with light coating that remained crispy. Oh, the marinaded cucumbers were a fresh, delicious and seasoned with a nice Chile.
The price of some dishes were only $12.50, while others were $9.95 cucumbers were $6.50.
We are willing to take MUNI in order to avoid looking for parking. F-LINE here we come.

We had a great experience here, we tried as many items as we could and everything was very good. The wings, and the meat and veggie buns stood out to me. My wife really loved the spinach dumplings. The custard buns and the mango pudding where also a huge hit, especially for my son.

I am from Southern California- and I now live in SF. I saw this place reviewed and recommended on Tik tok so I came. The food is hot, fast and fresh but I have had better. Waaaay better XLB, Pork Baos and spicy won tons. The wings were soggy for my taste. The best thing I ate were the green beans- they were perfect. I won’t be coming back but I appreciate the institution 🙂

Shout out to One More Bite and Mr. Dragon Noodle House in so cal! The best has not been beat.

I saw this spot on TikTok and made the drive into the city to try it out; what a disappointment. At prime lunch hour, we were the only ones seated, which should have been the first red flag.
Service was attentive and friendly, but unfortunately the food just didn’t deliver. We ordered the pan-fried dumplings, pork xiao long bao, shrimp gyozas, and scallion pancakes. All of it was just…meh. I’ve had far better at dumpling restaurants in the East Bay for a fraction of the effort.
Overall, not worth the hype or the drive.

Another excellent choice in the Castro District. I had a variety of dumplings. My favorite was the pork/shrimp dumplings. The wait staff was very helpful. I even had the opportunity to practice some Chinese Mandarin language. I highly recommend the Dumpling House!

Amazing dumplings, skillfully folded and cooked. Fresh flavors including the shrimp. Introverts dream since you order on your phone from start to finish. But hard to eat all the food without friends with you. Best bbq pork steam bun ever 🙂

Simple establishment , simple eats. Done right.
