Came here for a lunch date with my BF, first time coming here, and they didn’t disappoint! Everything was delicious and was served fast! Our 2 favorites were the Jellyfish salad and the Truffle dumplings!

Can’t wait to come back!

I love the steamed soup dumplings, xiao long bao. It’s one of the best I have ever had and I have had a lot. I can tell it’s very fresh based on the texture. It’s also very juicy. Pan fired pork dumplings are also very good. Highly recommend.

Absolute gem!
I’ve had quite a bit of dim sum in my day, and this is by far the best I’ve had.
We ordered a little of everything and were blown away by all of it.
You MUST try to chive pancakes, soup dumplings, and green beans.

Food came out quick, hot, and fresh!

I’ve been to Dumpling Hours several times and the food is always fantastic. I live in San Francisco and eat a lot of dim sum, and this spot is easily on par with many of the popular dumpling places in the city.

One of my favorite things is how fast the service is — once you’re seated, the food comes out quickly, which is such a win when you’re hungry. Everything I’ve tried has been absolutely delicious.

The ambiance isn’t super cozy, but the quality of the food and the speed of service more than make up for it. I’d much rather have amazing dumplings quickly — and this place delivers every time.

We’ve been here like five times and this is our favorite spot in WC!! Our favorite dishes to order are the juicy pan fried pork buns, deep fried chicken wings, string beans, beef XLB, and spicy pork XLB.

Best Xiao Long Bao in the Bay Area and beyond. Juicy and flavorful. The skin held up well with the chopsticks “wiggle” test. Pan-fried pork buns were equally amazing with very hot soup inside. Great wok fire for the string beans, slightly crispy outside and tender inside. The boiled shrimp chive pork dumplings were also very tasty and chewy wrapping texture outside. The spicy sesame wontons were mouth watering. I loved the sauce so much I told the server to let me savor the sauce in the empty dish. I have visited multiple Ding Tai Fung locations and supreme dumplings for their XLB but I kept coming back to Dumpling Hour Walnut Creek for more. This place has the most consistent quality for XLB. There were few staff serving a full house and delivered excellent customer service. They kept up with clearing the table with empty bamboo steamers and dishes while refilling water in our glasses. Ordering was a breeze using the qr code on the table. Food came out fast enough for a very busy evening. Every table was filled around 6 pm Thursday night, including outdoor seatings. I was so sad that the jelly fish appetizer sold out today. Not the first time and won’t be the last. Best to go early before the lunch crowd if I can help it.

Way too much MSG and VERY expensive for the portion size. I used to run several dumpling/dim sum restaurants in China. I’m not one to oppose the use of MSG, but this place uses way too much of it that makes me feel they are not confident in their food. Notice how much water you have to drink when eating the noodles or green beans – MSG should enhance the flavor but I can actually taste it. I had high hopes but was a bit disappointed.

The XLB is just okay – the wrap is fine but notice their filling inside. In my opinion, they use very cheap ingredients that I don’t think most people will notice except for those who grew up eating it. Same with the gelatin/soup quality. Maybe most people won’t notice but I’m surprised by some reviewers who are Chinese. Even from Shanghai.

Also in my opinion, the food is very expensive and the portions are small. The menu is also very limiting unfortunately.

I was hoping for it to be decent dumpling place, but I will move on and continue my search.

Great Asian delicacies in warm hospitable atmosphere.

Foods are homy and they have variety of choices such as different meat, vegetarian and seafoods.

The meals are priced reasonably low and their tea pots are yummy.

My son recommended this place, and I’m sorry I waited so long! We ordered so much food they had to move us from a 2-top to a 4-top just to accommodate! We took a lot of leftovers, but there’s not one dish I would have removed from our order. Everything was felt, you could taste the various flavors of dumplings, the noodles were amazing and not “too saucy”, you could really taste the noodle. I HIGHLY recommend- and, the prices are incredible.

This is some of the best XLB up and down the entire west coast of the USA. I see others compare it to places like Din Tai Fung, but this is better. I’ve tried pretty much every dumpling restaurant I can find in California (SoCal and NorCal) and in Seattle and this place beats them all hands down.
The spicy pork dumplings and perfectly seasoned, giving them a little kick and an aromatic flavor that fills your mouth but not so spicy that it masks the flavor. Perfecting spiciness is an art.
The black truffle dumplings are mouthwateringly delicious, same with the crab dumplings. They aren’t cheap, they are good, no…they are better than good, they are amazing.
The shrimp loofah’s are also worthy of a mention, not an XLB but a delightfully flavorful dumpling with a wonderfully unique and chunky texture.
I usually order via DoorDash (in vast quantities ) but I got to eat here in person for the first time just before Thanksgiving. The restaurant itself is not huge, tables and seats are packed in and it can get very busy. The kitchen is located in the center of the restaurant so you can see your XLB being made. The staff are friendly, even if they are all rushed off their feet.

All-in-all these guys are artists, masters of their craft.
If you want artisanal XLB, dumplings and other delicious dishes this the place to go.
