My daughter ordered the chicken dumplings and really liked them as well.
We also tried the jasmine tea, which was warm and very pleasant—light and refreshing, a great match for the meal.
Service was fast, and even though they made a small mistake with the order, they corrected it right away. Staff was polite and attentive. The place is clean, and they clean up quickly after each customer leaves, keeping everything ready for the next guest.
There was no background music, but that actually made it easier to have a conversation.
Overall, I definitely recommend this spot if you’re in the area and looking for dumplings or a casual dining option.
We ordered the fried chicken dumplings, the chicken and shrimp soup dumplings, the wonton soup, and scallion pancakes.
They all tasted great! The different sauces and chili oils were explained to us by the servers to use for each meal.
Prices are good and today’s economy is more than welcomed for an enjoyable meal!
This place is a must try!
Must try!
We only tried few items but let me tell you it’s so worth it.. we ordered the following items:
* Scallion pancakes- they are so fluffy and tender
* Beef/Pork mini bao – heaven the dough is so soft.
* Assorted dumplings- still has some juice in it, yummy
The chef was singing in the back, makes you think food will be really good. The waiter/owner was so kind. Sooo looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of their menu.
This an ordinary Shanghainese place IMO, with okay food, wonderful interior, and very friendly service.
We returned to DD first time since we tried after it had opened. It feels they have changed the look of the store and the menu little bit.
Food wise, I didn’t find any of their dishes beyond okay. The scallion pancake is deep fried, so its hard. The dumplings are dry and don’t come with any dipping sauce. The Yangzhou fried rice was also on dry side. The garlic sauce eggplant came with chunky pieces, it would have nicer if they were smaller softer, that would have mixed well with the sauce.
Everyone at the store were really friendly and nice to us. The service is top notch. But sadly I didn’t enjoy the food as much.
First review (2019):
Very excited have a dumpling place in the area. Loved their pork and crab dumpling. The beef Bao was really good as well. Other items were ok. Liked the style of picking all my items from the menu and order it at the counter. The service was excellent. Staff welcomed us and explained all different items. Would totally go back for the dumplings.
Pork soup dumplings – these were good but pretty standard
Crab and pork soup dumplings – tasted the same as the pork soup dumplings so you can probably just save $2 and get two orders of the pork soup dumplings instead
Drunken chicken – I’m not a huge fan of drunken chicken because I don’t like the taste of alcohol in my food, but my husband and in-laws seemed to really like it
Braised beef mini bao – beef was very dry, like jerky
Pork bun – pork was also dry and tasted old
Shrimp lo mein – this was probably my favorite out of everything. It’s not that there was anything particularly special about it, but they give you loads of shrimp. Most places will give you 3-4 pieces and call it a day but there must have been at least 15 shrimp in there
Overall, I enjoyed the dumplings and noodles, but not to the point where I thought, “Wow, this is amazing! I must have it again!” I probably wouldn’t order again (at least not for a while) since there are so many other restaurants in Fort Lee and the Fort Lee area I’d like to try first.
We got the pork soup dumplings and the crab and pork soup dumplings. I personally preferred the pork soup dumplings more at this spot. The filling was fresh and the soup was thick and rich. I thought the crab and pork dumpling are decent as well.
The garlic eggplant was spot on. The sesame pancakes could use a bit more scallion. The braised fish serving was a decent portion size and tasted scrumptious. The chicken with broccoli was great since it wasn’t overcooked. The broccoli was still green and the meat was still juicy. The braised pork belly mini bao are very tender and fresh.
I would recommend this spot for the braised pork belly mini baos, garlic eggplant, the pork soup dumplings!
