We stopped by Dumpling Cafe for dinner for the first time and really enjoyed it. We ordered beef brisket noodles, shrimp rice, and dumplings with chicken and pork — everything was very tasty. The service was fast and efficient. My son usually doesn’t like trying unfamiliar food, but here he happily ate the noodles with broth. Now we know a great place to have a delicious dinner near Lake Tahoe. We’ll definitely be back!

very good not sure why this doesn’t have a higher rating. they are making dumplings in house to order they are amazing and affordable! better than other places that just fry and steam frozen dumplings. had the soup dumplings and zhajiang noodles both were great. little short handed and they were busy but I got my food promptly. if using a QR menu means they can focus more on the food i’m fine with that.

Busy place!
Long queue!
Fast service!
We had a wonderful meal at Dumpling 85. The xiaolong bao were the highlight—thin, delicate skin with a rich, flavourful broth inside, perfectly steamed and satisfying with every bite. The braised brisket beef noodle soup was hearty and comforting, with tender brisket and a deeply savoury broth that warmed us up in the Tahoe cold. We also ordered the chicken fried rice, which was fragrant, well-seasoned, and made a great sharing dish.
Overall, a delicious and comforting meal—perfect after a day around the lake. A great spot for anyone craving warm, authentic flavours at South Lake Tahoe.

The restaurant filled up quickly after we ordered. We tried their basic dumplings, brisket noodle soup, & fried noodles. The food was good, just one man serving & we kept having to ask for what we needed, missing item, chopsticks, napkins, drink refills, etc. We plan to eat there again next time we’re in South Lake Tahoe.

Awesome dumplings and noodles! We finished the chicken dumplings in no time and it was good. The noodles were incredible especially the California spicy beef noodles, which I highly recommend. We also ordered the fried rice and everything was extremely delicious. Definitely a place worth coming back to!

Good authentic Chinese food. Tasty smell of Beef stew come through nose before we take the bite. You can tell their noodles are handmade by chew on it, dumplings’ wrapper are thin n meat inside is juicy. tables simply layout and atmosphere is pretty good. Price is reasonable n affordable. Locate just next block of 2 big casinos, few minutes walking distance, very convenient. Just wish they can open a little earlier.

If you are ever in town, having food from this place is a must! The most delicious meal me and my wife have had in the entire Lake Tahoe area and trust me we are big time foodies. Never have I tasted such flavor full food. We got the Beef and the Chongquing Noodles and guess what we had to go back for another round of deliciousness next day. Do not miss this spot! You will not regret this one bit and will talk about this food everytime you talk about this trip. The dumplings, Chicken Chowmean and the noodles are just darn delicious

If you’re in South Lake Tahoe and craving amazing Asian food, Dumpling 85 is an absolute must. The dumplings are incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right — juicy on the inside with that perfect texture on the outside. You can taste the quality in every bite.
The service was friendly and fast, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The portions are generous, prices are reasonable (especially for Tahoe), and everything came out hot and flavorful.
Whether you’re visiting or local, this spot is definitely worth stopping by. Easily one of the best meals we had in Tahoe — we’ll 100% be back!

I ordered the beef brisket noodle soup at Dumpling 85. The beef broth was flavorful, but the noodles were undercooked, which took away from the dish overall.
Service was just okay, and ordering requires using your own phone to scan a QR code for the menu and checkout. Unfortunately, the website lost my session mid-order, forcing me to restart the entire process, which was frustrating.
Overall, I’m on the fence about this restaurant. Both the food and service were average, and nothing stood out enough to make me eager to return.

The food here is well-seasoned and honestly one of the better Asian spots in this area. However, the organization of the restaurant is pretty chaotic. There’s no real waitlist, so guests have to approach the servers themselves and announce that they’ve arrived, along with what order they think they’ve been waiting in. Some people just walk in and grab the next available table, which creates frustration for everyone else.
The staff doesn’t seem concerned that there’s no management or host at the front to control the flow of guests. All food is ordered through a QR code, but you’re not allowed to self-pay or check out, which makes their system feel even more confusing. Overall, don’t expect great service — the setup is just strange.
The food is good though, and the average dish runs about $17–$19.
