If it wasn’t for me moving to Dumont I would have never found this place cuz when you search the nearest diner to Dumont this place doesn’t show up I honestly think they should have more knowledge to mention a classical in the wall diner like this place whose featured in movies it was a big part of community the food’s amazing the guy working the place is awesome and the experience of coming here and having your food and taking a step back in time is honestly one of the best awesome places to see.

Literally one of the best diners I’ve been to! Very interesting decor and FANTASTIC food and service! I attached some photos but the walls are also adorned with tons of baseball memorabilia. The staff were very personable and the main chef/owner even remembered us when we visited again a day or two later. There was street parking, but we walked there so I can’t remember if the parking was metered or not. HIGHLY recommend visiting this diner if you are in the area.

I grew up in Dumont during the 80s and early 90s. I’m so happy to see The Crystal Diner is still operating. Good ole Mo! What a sweet guy and his wife was so nice too. Cheeseburger deluxe, fries and a can of coke for $2.50. Great memories!

Best diner I’ve ever been to. Will be going back again and again. Delicious perfectly cooked food. Omelettes made properly, a bit wet inside (just how I like it) with delicious ingredients. Loui, the owner, is so friendly, makes you feel at home. Perfection all around

Retro diner with tasty food and interesting decor. Billed as the oldest diner in New Jersey. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. The bathroom is very tiny and unusable for handicap or the obese. Parking is primarily across the street.

I knew as soon as my family stepped foot inside this diner that I was going to love this place and I wasn’t wrong. Lou greeted us at the door and made us feel welcome immediately. He was cracking jokes with my kids and invited me to walk around the small diner to look at all the memorabilia. I’d need a full week to digest everything that is on the walls! It’s amazing inside.
The food was pretty decent and the prices were fair. But, if I were to come back it wouldn’t necessarily be for the food, it’d be for Lou and to hang out in this legendary diner. It was filled with regulars that pour their own coffee and joke around.
At the end of our meal, Lou gave us all a handful of chocolate chips and gave my son some baseball cards that were sitting behind the counter because I told him that he’s a big baseball fan.
I will 100% go back!

One of the worst dining experience. Five star reviews are fake. Very filthy and unsanitized place I have ever seen. Grill is old and greasy. One small refrigerator holds meat options and dairy products together. One person staff. When I saw little bugs crawling on the counter, I lost my appetite and had to walk out without finishing my breakfast. The owner shamelessly charged and kept full price of the breakfast. Not even a word of regret. Do not eat here unless you are starving for days and desperate for food. Not sure if the place ever passed health inspection. My first and last time. I’ve lost faith in Google reviews. 4.9 rating, seriously?

This diner is literally one of the best I’ve been to. The decor is amazing—the walls are covered in so much cool memorabilia esp baseball, which makes it feel really special.
But what really stands out is the food and the service. Everything we had was fantastic, The chef/owner is such a personable guy and even remembered us when we came back the next time. It really shows how much he cares. This place is a gem, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone nearby.
