Saw this place a few months back and finally got to try it.

They said you could get half & half of two kinds of meats if you wanted to try different things. I got the curry goat and the oxtail, and garlic potatoes with the rasta pasta.

What is pictured cost roughly $40. Absolutely ridiculous. I also got a beef patty which was very tasty & had lots of flavor, but not as much meat as I expected. The oxtail had tons of flavor, but the portion was too small. The goat was tender enough, but lacked the flavor that the oxtail had, and also there simply wasnt enough of it. The “garlic” potatoes was obviously minced garlic from a jar, and they were bland. The rasta pasta did have a very spicy bite, but it was an unremarkable cream sauce that didnt stand out.

The soda fountain machine was out of order, the lights were mostly off in the dining room at 5:30pm, and the payment system was down so I had to let the staff manually put my bank card info into their personal phone to pay for the food. I even tipped almost 30% (the $40 didnt include this) because I value small business and family-owned business. That location has been open for 3 months. I wont be going back.

I got the Jerk Chicken, Rasta Pasta and Rice and Peas. The pasta was spicy and the jerk chicken. But of course that’s the way I like it. It was very delicious. I got excited, because being here the last two weeks I had started cooking in my suite. The young ladies were so nice and friendly. I ordered plantains, but she said they weren’t ripe so she didn’t advise me getting them . They taste better sweet . That meant a lot. I will definitely be dining in again before I go back to Bama. Google doesn’t have enough stars.

This was by far the worst food/restaurant experience I have had in Knoxville.

I went 6:30 on a Saturday. There was NO ONE eating there….during peak dinner hours. This should have been the first indication to leave. There didnt seem to be anyone working in there, although I could hear voices in a back room. The lights were all off, no music. A young man that was sitting at a window table ended his phone call to come wait on us. He seemed disturbed to wait on us. He was speaking very quiet and I could not really hear him. But we gave an order. (Big mistake)

The soda fountain is still out of order. There were no beverages in the refrigerator behind the counter besides water. When I went to pay, there was no official working register (though there is a square terminal there), but my payment was taken on a cell phone. This seems super shady.

We sat down and watched the young man plate our food. The sides were stored in plastic to-go containers…not heated and not refrigerated….just sitting on the side of the hot bar. Fairly sure this is a health code violation.

He dropped the food off at the table. The macaroni and cabbage were room temperature. The macaroni was dry, stale, tasteless. Looked like it was made a week prior. The cabbage made my wife gag because of the room temperature. The portions were mostly rice. There was black, burnt “bottom of the crock pot” junk in my brown stew chicken. Super gross. I had two flats and two drummets….for $17. And on top of all of that, I tipped in exchange for absolutely no service. Not even for a glass of tap water.

It’s pretty clear this place is going to be out of business in short order. But it is also clear that they are doing absolutely nothing to contribute to the business. So if they fold…it will be 100% the fault of the owner.

I am from a city where there is a lot of Jamaican restaurants, all fighting for each other’s business. And they were all KILLER. Food, drinks, vibe. This is like the only Jamaican restaurant in Knoxville. So you would think they would be loaded up for dinner on a Saturday. What a missed opportunity to introduce and capitalize on the Jamaican food market in Knoxville. What a shame.

I would definitely avoid this place. If you are in the mood for delicious, spicy, ethnic food…visit Spice Hut in Lenoir City. You won’t be disappointed.

We saw this place on the news for their amazing food so we decided to try it. OMG!! Amazing! I got the jerk chicken with potatoes and cabbage. My husband got brown stew chicken and curry patty. He said it was delicious! Everything is freshly made and they even put love into their food. I HIGHLY recommend you try this place. You won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be back this week or next.
P.s. the owner and employees are so kind. They had the tables decorated for Valentines and even offer to turn on the T.V. Very nice place

I got a plate from your new location not too long ago with oxtails, macaroni and cheese, and plantains delivered from DoorDash. It did not taste good. I’ve never had this kind of experience from the Cherry street location it’s always been perfection. The gravy on the oxtails was watery and they weren’t tender. The macaroni was unseasoned, and the plantains were bland, dry, and nothing like normal. For $30 a plate I definitely expected more and I’m disappointed. Again I love y’all and this was completely different from my previous experiences on Cherry St.
