The bathrooms and the rest of the bar were extremely clean, which I really appreciated. The bartender took a little while to come by and check on us, and when we asked for menus, we only got one to share—but once we ordered, things improved quickly.
The burger was fantastic—a great smash burger with tons of flavor, definitely not a pre-made frozen patty. I’d recommend ordering a double since the patties are thin (as they should be). I went with the homemade onion rings on the side, and they did not disappoint.
The owner was walking around, introducing himself and chatting with customers. Super nice guy—it’s always great to see an owner who’s engaged and proud of their place.
Overall, I’d definitely come back. Great food, friendly atmosphere, and a place that clearly takes pride in what they do.
The name itself made us all smile, though we were skeptical about getting decent food.
We took a chance and it paid off.
12 of us walked in and we’re trying to get the lay of the land when a man at the bar mentioned we could push some tables together. Turns out he was the owner and he helped us, directed me to some good bourbon he had and we enjoyed some conversation.
Our server, likely a young college student, was not so happy to see us and was less than accommodating and obviously we were his last table, he just wanted to leave.
That did not stop us from enjoying surprisingly good bar food, overall acceptable service and an excellent location where the owner actually was there, worked and appreciated our coming in.
If you live here or just passing through, it’s it a local treasure since the 1930s and you should support this type of business.
Well done DuKum Inn!!
