Today we celebrated my Aunt’s 60th birthday with a party of 30 plus. S/O to our waiter/waitress who provided excellent customer service the whole entire time with such a big group. Amazing dock size with the view of the ocean. Eating outside to enjoy this beautiful/tropical Tampa weather. Even with it being extremely hot, the outdoor seating had fans every where. The food was good and the drinks were good as well. Wasn’t able to get pictures of all the food & drinks. It’s a must if you are in the South Tampa area, you check them out.

Duke’s is a great local spot for a beer, a bite to eat, and a beautiful sunset. It’s casual, super chill, and totally lives up to its name—Duke’s Retired Surfer Bar.
My friend’s birthday happened to fall in the middle of the week, and since we both live nearby, we decided to celebrate with burgers and drinks at Duke’s. The vibe was laid-back and perfect for a low-key evening. Our server was great, he brought my friend a dessert after we finished our meal, which she enjoyed very much!
The burgers were delicious, the view was gorgeous, and the birthday girl left happy. Can’t ask for more than that!

Having gone to the Dukes on Maui, my expectations were pretty high. Having this restaurant tied to the Hula grill was a bit confusing to be honest. This is more of a bar than a restaurant. We asked for lemon water and got nasty tap water to start, no lemons.
We ordered the Poke Bowl 8/10
The mahi fish sandwich and couple of burgers. The food overall 8.5/10
The service 4/10 (felt like we were a hassle)
Atmosphere 6.5/10… no Hawaiian music, just retro music.
We tried to go to the Hula Grill, but because of the rain we couldn’t get a seat outside. If you’re in the area for food, come here. For atmosphere keep going down the street to the Salt Shack. I think “The Duke” would have wanted better than this.

Had a large party a group of about 30. Service was great, food was great. Of course being Florida, the outside temp was on SCORCH. They had fans strategically placed to counter the heat.

This is a really nice back laid bar and grill right on the water with a great view. Servers were friendly and attentive. They have TVs to watch a game and live music as well. Plenty of seating in a casual open- air style. Available dock space if coming by boat. We stopped in for a drink but did try an appetizer as well – the grouper nuggets, which were very good. Not the cheapest place but reasonable prices for the atmosphere. Great weekend spot!

A friend and I saw the advertisement for “Hula Bay” on the TampaBay TikTok. So we decided to check it out for lunch. It seems Hula Bay is still in the construction process so they direct you to Duke’s Retired Surfer Bar and Grill, & as the name suggests this place should retire and close. Only nice thing about it was the scenery and the manager on duty. My friend and I ordered food, our waiter was very bland with offering suggestions or selling the menu. Then she placed a Hula Bay happy hour menu on the table and I had questions about things on that menu to which she blatantly said sorry this menu is very dated so such and such items aren’t even offered and then pointed to Duke’s happy hour menu. I decided on bacon and cheese sliders, my friend did fish and chips. My sliders were cold, and my friend’s meal was heat hot. I brought this to our servers attention and asked her was it possible to get fresh one’s she took those back and returned them following what I would assume was the kitchen air frying or microwaving them. They didn’t even have the common sense or decency to place the toothpick back into the same hole on the bun where I removed it from. Pathetic!!

Visited Dukes’s on Tuesday night for a relaxing evening with my wife. Our server Kim was amazing, the place was packed and she gave us great service. Tropical drinks were delicious as well as the beer. Food looked and tasted yummy. Our view was wonderful and when the sun set the fish came out to swim and were visible with the cool water lighting they use. Highly recommend and ask for Kim!

My first time. So good. I got the grouper tacos. I kinda wish there was a lil more grouper bc I felt if I got a sandwich w a full piece maybe I would’ve gotten more.
Felt was a lil light, side cuts.?. Still delicious. Just not much in taco. My friend got burger n u just cant go wrong w that portion size. Perfect n cooked as she wanted.
I saw others getting fish sandwiches w larger portions than I got n less expensive. Ill go that route next time.
Note to company..u need to do an offering of trio of sliders n tacos. No one wants to eat 3 of the same, put a sampler of ur beef, pork, fish. People will alone clean their plates. I took home 2 fish tacos out of 3. I wanted to try more. Put a trio sampler on the menu. Ill b back for that. I asked n told not possible.
