About 3 miles off of I-95. Exterior and interior leave much to be desired. Tables were clean. Buffet all you can eat. Everything was delicious. I arrived within an hour of closing, food temps were on the cooler side but I am not the board of health. Everyone was friendly. It seems like a hometown local joint. If they would update the building’s interior and exterior, adjust the temp of the buffet this could be 5 stars. Also, offers take out and drive thru!

First time ever stopping at a Dukes BBQ. What a treat! By default it is a buffet, with a line of fresh hot and cold food right in front of the kitchen, however plates/baskets are also allowed and drive through is fast. Atmosphere was nice and every employee was warm and friendly. The hot food was hot and fresh and cold was cold, just like it should be. We came in outside of rush, which made it even more impressive.
Desserts were marvelous, especially the deep dish strawberry shortcake.
Two sauces were offered, mild and hot, both with a mustard aspect I believe, but not “just” a mustard BBQ sauce.
Seems they’re known for their “hash”, which I asked about as I watched a lady ladle it on a bed of rice fora to go order. Made of pulverized potatoes and other things, it appeared almost like barbecue slaw. I tried it and it was not for me, but please form your own opinion as they’re known for their “rice and hash”!
The Mac and cheese was moist, cheesy, and baked. Corn nuggets and onion rings were fresh and fantastic. All the usual southern flavored veggies were spot on!
Dukes has been, and currently is, voted number one best fried chicken and pork barbecue in SC. I would have to agree! The chicken was high-quality, perfectly breaded and fried, hot, juicy, and amazing! The pork barbecue was EPIC…perfectly seasoned, smoked, and juicy, with little to no fat in the serving dish.
My lunch buffet was $20 and my wife’s sandwich with sides ~$11.
Definitely one of the best three barbecue I’ve ever had across the USA…and I have had many.

READ THIS: If you want a perfect dinner in Walterboro for your family, DUKES is it. All you can eat and drink fresh food buffet. $20 for adults 1/2 price for kids and even FREE for the small kids. Best BBQ pork and sauce combo I’ve had in years and legit the BEST pork skins and sides I’ve ever had. Multiple deserts, I tried them all and couldn’t decide which was better 10/10 everything and the place and people are lovely. This is dinner or lunch of choice in Walterboro, SC! Thanks Dukes!

I felt like I was eating in my grandmas kitchen. The place was clean and down home; no frills. Even had a loaf of “white bread” and a roll of paper towels on each table! All you can eat buffet of southern comfort foods: peans, beans, greens, fried chicken. Self serve food, drinks, and table bussing. Great atmosphere and good food!

A little taste of heaven in Walterboro! Seriously, if you look beyond the nutritional value, this place is amazing. Their mac & cheese is fan-freakin-tastic, pork is really good, and veggies are as Southern as can be. I like their spicy mustard sauce on just about all of it. I also learned that their sweet pickles have seeds in the brine and the dill do not. All around, totally worth the stop if you’re passing through on I95, but don’t think too much about transient fat. My kids were huge fans of the dessert!

this place was very good. i went in here to get dinner, we had to drive 1 hour because the one in ridgeland is closed forever. the food was pretty good and i love southern food too! the service was very kind and supportive. the atmosphere was nice and funny. Thank you very much and this was definitely the waste of driving an hour to get here
