We celebrated Valentine’s Day at Dufour in South Berwick and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish.
The atmosphere is cozy, romantic, and intimate — exactly what you want for a special date night. We started with cocktails: a crisp lemon drop and the “Back to Black(berry),” which was hands down one of the best cocktails we’ve had.
For appetizers, we ordered the lollipop lamb and the black and bleu mussels. The lamb was tender with a perfect char, and the mussels were fresh and served in a rich, flavorful broth that we happily soaked up with bread.
For dinner, the baked stuffed haddock was incredible — filled with bay scallops and shrimp, topped with a lobster cream sauce, and served over silky pommes purée with haricot verts. It was indulgent without being heavy and cooked perfectly. Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared.
We finished with a chocolate lava cake drizzled with raspberry coulis — warm, rich, and the perfect sweet ending to the night.
The service was warm and attentive, making the entire evening feel special without being over the top. Dufour is truly a gem in South Berwick. We’ll absolutely be back.

This place is a 4.5 We came for an early dinner. We were sat in front of the fireplace which was nice as the room was little cold. The food and service were very good. The server was pulling double duty as both the only server and the bartender. Service however did not suffer she was attentive and knowledgeable.
The food was very good. I had the Pork Chop special which i really liked and it was HOT and had a good taste. Not bland like I have experienced elsewhere.
My wife had the salmon and she loved it.
The dessert was a bread pudding it was ok. It had a tough outer crust which we got use to but prefer a softer version.
My only suggestion would be to lower the lighting to make the room a little more intimate, make me look better and let the fireplace standout as the center piece.
We will definitely return.

Had an incredible meal tonight! The service from Casey and support staff was exceptional, the food was so well prepared, elevated comfort food that hit the spot, and the lovely comfy booth was perfect for an intimate birthday celebration. The team made the birthday lady feel so special and taken care of. Thank you to the chefs, service team and everyone for a timeless dining experience!

Have had drinks here before, but tonight was the first time dining. We are vegetarian, and had splendid meals. Very rare to have a wide selection of outstanding vegetarian or pescatarian options on the menu, but this chef honors vegetarians with well thought out, carefully crafted meals. The entire meal was a delight, and we will return!

Went for my birthday with my husband, and it did not disappoint. Everything about this place is top notch, from the service to the atmosphere to the food. Cocktails are incredible. There is nothing that we ordered that we wouldn’t highly recommend, abd this is the sort if place where I’d order something different even if I’m not sure about it because I know it would still probably be good. The scallops and my husband’s steak were cooked perfectly, and the flavors were on point.

The room was very cozy with the fireplace. Menu was easily legible and the waitress was quick to explain if we had questions. We were told the specials, however the reason it’s getting a four is when the table sat behind us was read the same specials but others were added too. We had already ordered or appetizers but we felt a little left out of the choices. Some of the muscles were really sandy too, I know it’s hard to clean them well but it’s worth a mention. The broth was amazing in them, but the toast seemed a bit generic if you will. Entrees were all exceptional, but the potato stack served with the filet needed a sauce as it was a bit dry. Overall it was all enjoyable and we will be back.

I can’t say enough nice things about the staff here! We recently held an event for close to fifty people and were treated so kindly with smiles and staff ready to help. The food is always amazing as are the crafted cocktails.
Cheryl and crew go above and beyond to serve with friendliness and quick attention. If you are considering a party here, you won’t find a more seamless and delightful place. With plenty of parking out back as well.

We could not find a place to eat breakfast on the ocean so we drove inland. This was our 3rd attempt to find a place to eat. We got right in for a table for two. Drinks were great food was great, service was amazing!

Dufour is a very welcome addition to South Berwick. Absolutely stunning decor and physical facility. The menu has many attractive options from oysters, to seafood, steaks, vegan, etc… We wanted to order everything. Salmon and flank steak entrees were great. We tried two specialty cocktails which are worth trying. Lobster bisque was perfect, mussels were okay but creme fresh made broth look unappealing. Still tasted fine. Table was small (in lounge) but the tasteful bar design made up for the couple of minor shortcomings. I highly recommend this place. Casual upscale, with coordinated seasoned service squad. Nice to see and experience. – I’ve added more pics from subsequent visits: It’s not as good as it was. Big drop off from our 9 past visits. Hopefully gets back on track. Food looks good, but didn’t deliver like in the past (have been 6+ times). FYI isn’t needed on Lobster bisque or past Carbonara. Competing flavors. Will continue to go back from time to time.

Have been here twice and both times had a awesome experience, no complaints on the food at all, steak was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, as well as the mussels (never had them with an aioli!) and tuna crudo, which was perfectly balanced. Did get one drink that felt a little heavy handed (and affected the flavor) but otherwise cocktails and wine selection were great
