Me and my partner really enjoyed the vibe of this place. The guy that took our order was super nice and created great conversation. He was also very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. He recommended the vanilla shake which was honestly really good! My partner got it for himself but I ended up drinking half of it haha. I got the poutine fries with duck and a duck egg which was packed with a ton of flavor. I was not disappointed by the fries at all! On the other hand my partner got the DUCKFAT FRENCH DIP sandwich, which unfortunately was lacking flavor. For the most part this place offered good food and we would go back to try some other dishes out.

Overrated? Maybe, especially with the high price tag, but definitely some really good meals. Everything hit. Table favorite was the Duckfat Caesar which looked incredible and was insanely flavorful. The Duckfat Poutine was nothing extraordinary, given it was $18, but still a solid dish with a lot of flavor. Sandwiches were pretty good but definitely not worth the $17-18 it costs for each. Surprised they did not have a duck sandwich at the time.

five out of five possibly the best duck I’ve ever had. The most ridiculous flavorful poutine you will ever have. Panini sandwiches out of this world. Pork belly is so soft and tender melted in my mouth. I will be back ASAP.
This place has really cool interactive activity board that was really fun to play with. very unique Does that way that way or not that way

Fantastic food at Duckfat. Even with a large group, they seated us after about a 30-minute wait, and the service was warm and friendly. I started with the Roots, Barks, & Sticks drink — it’s a craft root beer, but honestly, I wasn’t a fan. It tasted pretty weak, so if you’re expecting a bold root beer, this isn’t it.
I got the Oaxacan-style House Smoked Brisket sandwich and really enjoyed it. It’s a unique mix of flavors, and adding avocado made it taste even fresher. The Belgian frites with the flight of five sauces are a must — my favorites were the Thai chili mayo and garlic aioli sauces.
I also got the mocha milkshake. TIP: ask for a side of the cookies from the cookies & cream shake to mix in. It takes it from an 8 to a 10. I also tried the cookies and cream, salted caramel, and blueberry buttermilk milkshakes — all were delicious, but the mocha and cookies and cream were my favorites. I tried the donut holes and they were insanely good!

Came for the poutine. As someone who spent time in Canada, the poutine was solid, great gravy, crispy fries. My only complaint would be a little low on the cheese curds, but flavorwise great.
But the real standout for me was actually their duck caesar, one of the best caesars ive had over the years!

Three things about Duckfat:
One must be precise with the menu, lest your table is led to financial ruin. The poutine, french dip and Brussels sprouts are wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am hits.
Be prepared to wait and wander. Only one member of your party should enter the restaurant and put your name down for the wait list. This is because the place is absolutely microscopic. Don’t be late when they’re ready for your table, or it will be given away after five minutes.
One time, the waitress and bartender were handling a lunch rush honorably but with clear stress—that is, until they shared a moment by the bar that sparked a wide grin put a spring in their step. Best of luck to ’em.

About five years ago, we visited Duckfat for the first time. To be honest, I don’t quite remember which sandwiches we ate or which beers we drank. What we do remember, though, are the fries. The Belgian-style fries were magical—delectable, crunchy, and unforgettable. We even brought home T-shirts and told anyone who would listen about this fantastic spot in Portland, insisting they had to try the fries.
Fast forward to today. This time, my memory is much clearer about the food we ate, the service we received, and the exact beers we enjoyed. And then there were the fries. They weren’t bad—worse, they were ordinary. No different from fries you’d get at any place serving burgers. They were common, underwhelming, and about as far from crunchy as could be.
We weren’t angry, and they certainly weren’t terrible, but they also weren’t what we had come to expect based on our first visit. The service was still excellent, and the food and beer were great. But the fries—the item they’re so proud of—felt like just a shadow of their former glory.

Bring in the DUCK! Duckfat is awesome! our friends took us here on our way north because they remembered it being so delicious and it didn’t disappoint! A recent review mentions some fried being soggy… I have to admit some of our batch was… and I’m not sure if that’s intended or not and what to expect from “Belgian Style Fries” the only way I can associate it and relate is if you ever had boardwalk fries down the shore, where they par cook and fry the potatoes and sometimes the oils just cold enough it doesn’t crisp up but not too old were the grease seeps in… it’s like that. But either way we devoured our basket and weren’t just hungry! They were great! and well seasoned! (Some crispy too so maybe we were hustling unlucky; or maybe that’s how it’s served!) we had a nice server who was attentive and the food runner was great too. We really appreciated their attentiveness to a food allergy we had in our group. You don’t always see that level of seriousness which we truly appreciated! Sauces were great! We also enjoyed some duck which was cooked to perfection. I had a sandwich with the tomatillo and it blew me away. For my first time in Portland I’m glad we waited to try this place. Our friends knew their stuff and they too were happy it was good as they remember! We sat outside which was also nice. You could tell they really cared about their service and their place. I recommend trying the old style root beer! Oh and the donut holes! you can’t miss those! Absolutely divine! Perfectly fried outside with the hot steaming pillowy inside! 10/10. Coffee was great too! I love they also are openly inclusive! There’s love and food for everyone! You won’t be disappointed if you go to Duckfat and it’s worth the wait!

PSA: THEY DO NOT DO TAKE OUT. They have another outlet not too far away, be sure to go there if you intend to do takeout. Outstanding poutine, amazing vanilla milkshake with REAL vanilla. Super flavourful and aromatic. Highly recommended

Cozy little place. Place was slammed but the staff were amazingly friendly. Poutine and cubano were melt in your mouth. Washed down with a shake that wasn’t heavy but perfectly tasty. Don’t pass this place up if you’ve got the chance.
