We ordered the pork bao + pickled cucumbers + duck potstickers + spring rolls + green beans + duck fried rice. It was all incredible!!!! The only negative part was the parking.
it was my first time having dim sum, and i was joined by 3 friends, one of them being full chinese, and she even said it was very modernized dim sum, that did not taste at all authentic, or include the og flavor profiles.
the best thing was probably the drink pitcher that we shared. otherwise, i unfortunately was not impressed.
The first order to come out was the Jiaozi (potstickers). They set the tone for the entire meal. I don’t even like bone marrow but woah… the taste was out of this world. 10/10. It just kept getting better with the spicy sticky wings. Everything is shareable but I could have easily eaten a whole plate by myself. The wings were followed by the chilly (cold) chili noodles and char sui bao. Absolutely divine. Next came an assortment of veggie and duck/goat rolls. The sauces… I could’ve drank the sauces on the own. The horseradish aioli simply perfect. Whew! What next, it really just kept coming. The XIAO LONG BAO. Those were the best soup dumplings I’ve ever had. Period! The broth was so complex I really could have just slurped on a gallon of it. The was probably my favorite dish after the jiaozi. Next we had the crab Rangoon. I’m typically not a Rangoon fan but these were pretty good. I’d recommend them for sure. Then came the mapo doufu. If you aren’t a fan of sichaun flavor then you likely won’t enjoy this. Along with whit rice it was pretty good. We then tried the pork omelette and xi’an crispy potatoes. Both immaculate. I’d order both again without hesitation. The meal came to its gluttonous concision with the Hong Kong French toast. Wow. That might have topped the potstickers. So rich and full in flavor.
Drinks were equally impressive. For cocktails we tried the chai’s and true, pandas express, raspberry beret. Mocktails included the little red corvette (insane flavor!!!) and the heyong sarsparilla specialty soda. All incredible.
Our lovely waitress Bronwyn was warm and attentive every second of the meal. I felt like I was eating in her home. BIG shoutout to Hasi and the mitchen. Yall doing magic!!! See you soon.
Highlights were the scallion pancakes (incredible dipping sauce), the Chingon chicken (juicy, crispy, perfectly seasoned), and the banana dumplings for dessert. The chili noodles were good but not unique, and the vegetarian tofu dish was disappointing and needed a side of fried rice to balance it.
Despite a few misses, the food overall was excellent and the service was strong.
Food: 4.5/5, Service: 4.2/5, Atmosphere: 4.1/5.
I enjoyed it because I didn’t feel like I had to look a certain way for NYE – still nice but wasn’t formal which was more fun and cozy.
It was a beautiful pre-fixed menu and tons of food. Well balanced with flavor and plenty left over!
Staff were attentive and very friendly especially on an important event like New Year’s Eve.
This was a nice evening out – glad we went here!
The food quality is undeniably high, with every dish impressing us. The highlights were the Dan Dan Slap Noodles, which were truly amazing, and the perfectly cooked Pork Belly.
The only reason this didn’t earn a perfect 5-star rating was the seasoning: the amount of salt was simply way too much. It unfortunately overshadowed the excellent flavors in several dishes.
It’s a fantastic spot with knockout dishes, but be prepared for high sodium levels.
The food was also satisfactory and flavorful. The shishito peppers were cooked perfectly had puffed rice which lent to a welcome contrasting texture. The dim sum dishes all contained varying flavor profiles. The fermented sliced chili’s added a nice gentle acidic touch to contrast the robustness of the meat dumpling.
My experience at Duck Duck Goat was very positive. The cheerful disposition of the staff and the both tasteful and tasty food created by a well-ran kitchen offered a wonderful brunch experience. The warmth of said experience was dichotomous to the penetrating frozen windchill permeating Chicago this weekend.
