The food was amazing and well cooked. The oxtail was cooked to perfection and paired nicely with the mac and cheese. My only complaint was the portion size; the oxtail and mac and cheese could have been larger or included more oxtail pieces.
Our server, Aj, provided excellent customer service and was very attentive and helpful. Overall, it was a great first-time experience.
Service:
I was very happy that you didn’t not have to RSVP ahead of time and you could simply do a walk up, and it didn’t take long to get on a list where we were asked to wait for a text message. I will say we waited quite a bit longer than they estimated, but Because this café is in the middle of the best farmers market around here, you have so many other things you can do in the meantime, including get a drink somewhere and chill until you get the text. When we were seated, there was some confusion on who was taking care of us, however, everything flowed well after that was clarified. Both servers were wonderful and were able to provide us assistance, no matter which one we flagged down.
Drinks:
I’m not sure whether I missed what kind of adult drinks were available, but all I saw were the small and large mimosa options. You do get a heck of a lot of orange juice with it, maybe more orange juice than Prosecco.
Food:
So I was proper starving by the time we got to this restaurant so I could not wait for the food! The pictures online looked so decadent and full of color and life, it definitely did not look like it could disappoint. And my partner and I can verify that This food is out of this world good! I bought a warm lobster roll for us to share along with each getting our own plate. We ordered the chicken wings and waffles Along with the lobster avocado toast.
The Thai chili wings were amazing! The taste Of both the seasonings and the chicken itself. They are slightly sweet and slightly spicy, which is always a great combination and sauced too perfect perfection. The waffles were also great – big and fluffy pieces! As for the lobster roll, I have only been to one other place whose lobster roll was this good! The butter used on all of the food, tasted like it came from a cow who has a small group of close friends, reconciled with their parents, went to Therapy and worked on themselves.
I don’t know what they put in it or what exactly kind of butter it is, but you might shed a tear. A squeeze of the lemon wedge is the perfect touch. And that brings me to the Lobster, avocado toast. Each bite made me feel the appreciation this restaurant has for the community. It is building. The Texas toast used along with a mashed avocado spread, which looked like real avocado and not that processed spread stuff they put on sandwiches at Dunkin’ Donuts, Were the perfect base for the eggs which are scrambled flat and folded into a perfect square for the Texas toast. On top of that is a few pieces of lobster claw.
No, because I did also order that lobster roll, I was able to add a little bit extra lobster as I ate my toast. You definitely need a knife fork for this one! The potatoes were very well made that came with it as well. It was quite difficult to make a choice on what to order, but we were 100% happy with the ones we made. I ordered the crabcake and cornbread for Our daughter at home and she said her food was good too.
Music:
I can’t remember how they described their music choices, except I remember the term “Traphouse jazz” which is so us lol. But it was a good mix of music and did not drown out the sound or make it hard to talk at your table.
Atmosphere:
From the moment I saw the videos and pictures online, I knew we would like the open concept to this establishment. The restaurant is split into two sides and it surrounded by plants and some soft walls. I started to freak out that they gave us a table with food on it, but it was literally just the rusty appearance of the metals used for the seating. There are both high tops and regular chairs with a back.
Summary:
This is definitely a place that we will find a benefit in driving to, especially because it takes a lot for me to find a place worthwhile outside of the blocks I live on. The restaurant is not overcrowded and certainly not understaffed. If you do find yourself waiting a little longer than you expected, please know that it will be worth it!
The food was just as impressive. Everything came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The portion sizes were great and the whole atmosphere made the brunch experience even better.
Kelly definitely made the visit memorable. If you stop by Dubs Brunch Bar, I highly recommend asking for her. Great service and great food all around.
