Pillowy soft, Nonna-approved, and famously $5. ✨
If you’ve walked through the Mile End, you’ve definitely smelled the garlic and tomatoes wafting from the iconic window of Drogheria Fine. There is something so satisfying about holding that warm white carton (usually reserved for Chinese takeout!) filled with the most comforting gnocchi in Montreal.
Did you know? The gnocchi wasn’t actually the original plan! Drogheria Fine opened as a simple grocer to sell their family’s authentic Calabrian tomato sauce. The gnocchi window was only started as a “tasting station” to help promote the sauce. It became such a massive hit that it turned into the legendary Montreal staple we know and love today. ❤️
Whether you like yours with a little extra kick of chili or a mountain of parmesan, it’s a must-stop every single time.

Cute hole in the wall place! Came here for the $5 Gnocci. Add 1.50 and you get chili flakes and Parmesan cheese.

It’s the best thing I’ve eaten since my Grade 4 teacher’s rigatoni sauce. I remember eating it as a kid, and even after all these years I still crave it and I’m glad I found this on my trip to Montreal cause it was nostalgic lol

They take cash or Canadian debit only.

Popular eatery on Fairmount. $5 for tiny balls of gnocchi in a homemade tomato sauce (sauce for sale, too). I chose the option with cheese for an extra $1. Came with a spoonful of Parmesan that tasted like… soap. The gnocchis themselves are inexpensive and a fun snack as you wander around the neighbourhood. Staff serves the take-out boxes with a smile!

We were brought here as part of a food tour on the Montreal Mile End. The gnocchi + tomato sauce was really delicious and for the price nothing can be beat!

We wouldn’t have heard about this place had it not been for our tour guide Eric so we were glad to have it as a stop on the tour. There was a large lineup outside (there is no seating inside) but it seemed to be moving quickly.

They don’t accept credit – cash or Interac only!

Absolutely amazing! The food was delicious the gnocchi with tomato sauce and parmesan tasted fresh, rich, and homemade. The service was super friendly and welcoming, and everything came out just right. The place was very clean, and the atmosphere had a unique, cozy charm that made the whole experience even better. Honestly, one of the best spots I’ve tried in Montreal. Highly recommended!

Like everyone has been saying, you just can’t beat the price. The box is small but mighty as it surprisingly is able to contain plenty of gnocchi. There is no indoor seating but there are public benches outside. The sauce is not my favourite but it’s still an overall good snack . When I come back I’ll try to bring some cheese or cured meats to eat on the side!

Tasty gnocchi served pretty fast as well. Waited in line for a bit since it was pretty popular. Though the line was long it shortened pretty fast due to the efficiency of serving. Since they really only served one thing, they can quickly put them out.
The gnocchi came out hot and fresh. The texture of the pasta was really good. It had a nice springy squish to it, which almost melted in your mouth. The sauce also had a good flavour, in which it tasted a bit nostalgic.

Overall pretty nice thing to try if you are in the area.

Came for the gnocchi! We got the non-spicy with parmesan cheese – delicious and perfect portion sizes for $6. Got there around 5pm and had a few people waiting in line but it went pretty quickly! Important to note that they only accept Canadian debit cards or cash only.

Nice little street shop, with pleasing decoration and vibrant staff. Great price with quantity too. 5$ for a box of gnocchi, 6$ with cheese and 6.5$ for cheese and spicy.
Flavor wise, the tomato sauce was too sour for me, as all i tasted is its sourness and nothing else really. But overall I would recommend people to try.
Payment method: Cash or Canadian debit card
