We came tonight and the food, the ambiance, everything was phenomenal.
We had the Brussels sprouts, the arugula salad with salmon, and the chicken sandwich – all 10/10
And the chocolate lava dessert amazingggg
Aubrey was our waitress and she did an awesome job! She was attentive and gave detailed explanations of the menu options. All of her recommendations were awesome!
The Brussels sprouts had the sweetness with the apricot and a goat cheese type glaze. It was so so good. My one personal picky thing is that I wish that they had been cut slightly smaller so they could get crispier and be eaten easier but still 10/10.
The protein portions were big for both entres and the salmon for the salad had a perfect crisp to it.
Overall definitely recommend this place for a nice date night out or just some high nutrient dense food.
Everything was clean, food was great, and the vibes were spot on.

I came for a solo birthday dinner and had a lovely time. It was a weekday so things weren’t too busy and I was sat right away. From the second I came in the door to the moment I left I felt very welcomed and taken care of. I think the ambiance of the establishment was very nice and the food was great! While the prices are more than I’d pay just on an average weekday, I hope to return for special occasions to relax and treat myself to a nice meal and cocktail. I would recommend stopping by yourself!

Excellent food, drinks, but slow service… read below for details.

The night we arrived, there was a rather large wedding party. We arrived without a reservation and were seated in the patio in a breezy 65 Degree weather and there were no heaters. We asked to be moved away from the breeze and were accommodated. It took 15 minutes until we met the Waiter. He was kind, elegant and knowledgeable. It took another 15 minutes to get our cocktails, and another 15 minutes to get the appetizer, and finally another 20 minutes to get our dinner. Our waiter apologized every time citing the backed up bar tender and “Chef.”

We got the grilled octopus as the appetizer which was totally delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Being an adventurous foodie, I asked to get the Local Catch – Chef’s Choice and my wife got the Pork Chop. Both were decadent overall. My fish was a bit bland at first but then I spread the sauce and it was wonderful. The dessert we got was the pumpkin pie and it was pretty much PERFECT!

So, I can see (and taste) what they are trying to do at Driftwood. An upscale restaurant in a casual beachy environment. Tough combination; but not impossible. Google searches did not reveal who the owner(s) or the Chefs are. Which makes me assume that the menu was bought and is being made by someone who is NOT professional chef, which is perfectly OK for small areas like Surf City, NC.

If service was a bit more timely, I would have given it 5 stars. This evening was probably a one off due to the large wedding party which demanded a lot of attention from the wait staff, kitchen, and the bar. To be clear, the server(s) were NOT at fault. They were just very busy.

My wife and I agreed that Driftwood requires another visit done with a proper reservation and inside seating so as to make my review as fair as possible.

Recommendations for the owners of Driftwood:
– Outside heaters.
– If you don’t have enough staff, please don’t pack the restaurant. Its perfectly OK to have people wait. Especially for walk-ins. Upscale restaurants really need to address service quality just as much as the quality dishes.
– New menus should be printed every night. The ones given to us were all wrinkly and not nice.
– Kids menu is a good idea instead of just reading it to us.

Edited to say the Manager invited us to come back to try the restaurant again. He provided the entrees and we had chicken, salmon and scallops. The food was tastier on this visit and the service was much better. The chef came to check on us and had made sure our dietary restrictions were met. Original review: We reserved for Valentine’s Day over the phone and were not told that we had to order from an A prix fixe menu. I am on a doctor prescribed diet for multiple health issues, parter is gluten free and it was difficult to find any items that we could eat. Had I been told about the special menu we would have gone elsewhere. We had a friend who had lost her spouse recently visiting from out of town and did not feel we would be able to get into another restaurant on Valentine’s Day. The server was rolling her eyes when I told her I was unable to eat nuts even though the menu said to inform your server if you had dietary restrictions. The manager only offered a $15 per person discount (because they had no desserts we could eat) on a $90 per person meal. We travel quite a bit and eat out during our travels. We all agreed the food was bland and disappointing. My advice is to stick to your regular menu because quality was lost in quantity.

I needed a gluten free option and Tristan went and got gluten free bread for me from Publix to make my sandwich gluten free. He truly went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary restrictions. Kimmy our server was so kind and helpful. Will come again! Amazing place and great food – even better service! Had tears in my eyes for their kindness and thoughtfulness!❤️❤️

It’s finally open! And it goes without saying, it was worth the wait. The same crew that brought us our beloved Spiaggia has now put out another amazing restaurant concept, Driftwood Craft Kitchen and Cocktail Bar.
If you’re like me and love going to Wilmington for a fun date night, no need anymore. They’ve brought it to you. Amazing food with high quality product. Craft cocktails perfectly curated by experienced mixologists. And an overall ambience that was needed in our area.
This is the ultimate date night experience!!!!

We visited on a Saturday night as a party of four. The atmosphere was fantastic! It was A very comfortable setting. They made it so that even with other tables around, you felt like it was private. The food was absolutely incredible. Olivia took care of us and was fantastic! The wine and cocktails were on point and the dessert was incredible.

My wife and I had an opportunity for a date night with family in town. Going against our normal places around and eating at their other restaurant quite often, we decided to try out the new place around. When we walked in the atmosphere was great. We did not have to wait for a table, which on a Saturday is great. The drinks were great. Our waitress Oliva was very attentive to our needs as well as the hosting staff. The food was delicious, we started with the mussels, they had a little kick but were great. My wife had the salmon and I’m not really a fan of salmon but the blend of the risotto, green beans and the salmon was delicious. The skin was perfect on it. I had the ribeye, it was cooked perfectly medium rare. The carrots with the demiglaze and steak was so good. I was a little disappointed in the potatoes as they were more homefries than a potato side that should be served with the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, a pave, duchess or even a fondant would have fitted the plating perfectly. Definitely a breath of fresh air for restaurant quality in the surf city area. Will return, highly recommend.

Finally visited for dinner on a quiet Sunday night and we were very happy with everything and our server Olivia was awesome. French onion soup was delicious and the salad with whipped goat cheese was awesome. The filet was perfectly cooked to order and tasty. Nice choice of signature cocktails and great wine selections. Excellent.
