Reviews
I had the crab cake, which was quite tasty and packed with crab, as expected. The sides were also very good.
We also had a shareable plate of fried oysters, which I recommend if they’re something you’d like.
Service was great, very friendly and attentive, but not overly so.
Besides multiple servings of oysters, then steamed oysters & sea scallops all cooked to perfection. Also, oyster stew thick with,.,,,oysters, good blended flavors from other ingredients in a cream base.
Raw oysters with basil oil was actually a bit overpowering for my taste. Prefer just a dab of anything on a delicious oyster so a not to mask their delicate flavor. Just saying.
Fried oysters had a Hush Puppy coating then fried just right.
Being Taco Tuesday our guest enjoyed fish tacos & tangy spicy slaw added.
House salad was very crisp & fresh with a super chunky homemade blue cheese dressing, on side. Croutons were meh. Discarded.
Suggest none or a thin slice of cornbread or a few cornbread croutons would raise the bar.
Dessert; Espresso Martini was very good with lots of ice slivers afloat.
Guest with food allergy was accepted, well done & thanks!
A pleasant manager or owner walked about checking up on folks.
Great server & bartenders, cheerful atmosphere.
Very clean. Run efficiently.
Cash & credit cards accepted.
No reservations, 10 min wait on busy night at bar with luxury cushioned bar seats.
Highly recommend The Dredge for your casual dining or happy hour experience.
Handicapped access & easy parking.
First off, this is a bar. And as a result, it was bar food. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I think it’s a misnomer to call it a restaurant that serves alcohol. It’s the other way and the food is limited to quick, bar foods. It was tasty, but the variety is definitely limited.
Started with the rum punch and fried oysters. Would highly recommend both. Then went with the fish tacos which were again good, but was hoping to get some more substantial food. Finished off with a micro slice of key lime pie. Tasted really good! But I doubt I would do it again.
Great place for drinks and have food if you want a bite.
We started off with the fresh local Rappahannock oysters and they were just amazing. Big, juicy, and buttery. House Champagne Vinegar Mignonette was tasty as well.
Wife- Fresh Catch Tacos, blackened, “perfection”
Me- Roasted Cuban Pork with black beans and rice, perfectly faithful incarnation of the Caribbean staple,
Toddler- ‘Viet-Cajun’ Udon with veggies & grilled shrimp in a house soy, just delicious! She loved it as well.
We would definitely come back here in a heartbeat should we ever find ourselves once again spending time in the Northern Neck of VA.
