We had an incredible dinner at Dragonfly in Wellington! The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was stylish yet cozy. We ordered the ginger chicken dumplings, sticky pork belly, chicken popcorn, and the dark chocolate dessert — every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. An exceptional dining experience! The menu is designed for sharing, so we got 2 small and 2 main plates (+ rice) to share between the both of us, which we found was the perfect amount. Everything was fresh and delicious. The flavours of the sauces were very rich, meats that melted in your mouth, beautiful fresh veges. I loved everything. I’d definitely recommend the Japanese Golden Curry and 55 Day Aged Beef Short Rib in particular. The food is on the pricier side, but it was well worth it.
Love the decor and moody lighting, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and very attentive. They provided excellent service. Highly recommend!

Wow! Fantastic atmosphere and seating options, low noise so able to have a conversation. Seating options included restaurant, cocktail lounge and semi outdoor space, all with beautiful decor and lighting. Quite a small menu but everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic so they’ve obviously focused on perfecting each dish. Waiter was there immediately and stayed nearby, noticing if anybody needed anything, he was very polite. Drinks and food arrived very promptly! Extremely impressed, new favourite!

I recently visited this bustling restaurant tucked away in a lively part of town, and despite its discreet signage, it’s well worth seeking out. It’s located right next to The Shady Lady Bar and Night Club so keep an eye out, as you might miss it until you’re right in front of the door.
This place is clearly in high demand, always buzzing with activity. I had made a reservation several days in advance, and even then, it was challenging to secure a table in my preferred area the courtyard. Fortunately, the staff went out of their way to accommodate my request and managed to reserve a cozy spot for two. Their customer service was outstanding from start to finish.
I was especially impressed by how organized their reservation process was. They sent timely reminder emails and even followed up for confirmation the day before our booking, something I really appreciated.
Now, onto the food: everything we ordered was served warm and full of flavor. The sticky pork belly was a standout, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the pork dumplings and the Katsu Sando, all beautifully presented and equally delicious. To finish, we shared the Vietnamese mousse, which was the perfect end to a fantastic meal.
This spot is ideal for couples, groups of friends, and families alike. While the overall experience was excellent, do note that it’s on the pricier side, so be prepared for a higher bill. That said, for the quality of food and service, it’s absolutely justified.
Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back!

Flightless Clover
Went here with my partner and the in-laws. Somehow we were seated on separate tables originally but someone figured this out about 15 minutes later and seated us all together. The waitress was lovely, friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious. We got 5 starters, 3 large dishes and 3 rice between 5 of us which was just the right amount. We were left alone for a while without service after finishing our meals and eventually had to ask a waiter for the dessert menu. After deciding on our dessert, much to our surprise we had the bill dropped abruptly at our table and told there was another table coming in. Although I saw the time limit when making the reservation no one reminded us of this when we were there and the delayed service definitely didn’t support the restricted timeframe. We decided to go elsewhere for dessert and additional cocktails as it ruined the atmosphere somewhat. It is a shame because our waitress’ service was great up until delivery of the meal then it disappeared hence 3 stars not 4.
Don’t know if we will be going back to be honest. It left a sour taste.

Had an awesome 20th at the dragonfly, staff were amazing, music paylist was awesome and the food was so flavourful, the cocktails are also amazing, we had the ginger kiss and dragon’s breath, both completely unique and fantastic in their own ways, again, huge respect to the staff, we had an amazing time!
