Vietnamese spot turning out rolls, bowls & banh mi sandwiches in a small, laid-back space.

The Thai coffee was very strong, sweet and flavorful. I was looking forward to try the roasted duck banh-mi sandwich, the bread was very light and crispy, and have plenty of roasted duck.
But I wish the bread was more chewy and less dry, there were lots of duck meat, but somehow I don’t taste the duck flavor nor the texture. Also a bit pricey.

Came by looking for some good food after a day in GGP. Did not disappoint. Purchased chicken and pork banh mi, Loved the pickled veggies, meat, mayo, and cilantro used. The only complaint is with the texture of the bread, pretty stale to the point it scraped up the mouth. Interior is small, able to seat 5 to 10 people but better for takeout. Make sure to grab some Sriracha chile sauce. I would definitely come back again but may get a bowl instead of a sandwich.

Y’all these people are QUICK. We ordered and not one minute after we sat down did they have our 4 sandwiches and 1 roll out and ready to go idk if they have them at the ready or what, but we got two 5-spice chicken, 2 pork bahn mi, and one shrimp roll,… all fire . The joint is super cute too, decent seating, water station, napkins etc. Definitely would go again!

DragonEats is the kind of neighborhood institution that quietly earns devotion through consistency, sincerity, and an unwavering respect for craft.
From the moment you approach the counter, you’re greeted by a gracious woman whose warmth feels instinctive rather than rehearsed, polite, attentive, and genuinely proud of what she serves. That sense of hospitality sets the tone for the entire experience and immediately signals that this is a place rooted in tradition and care.
The bánh mì is exemplary. The pork is rich and savory, expertly balanced by crisp pickled vegetables and fresh herbs that taste as though they were prepped moments before assembly. But the true insider’s secret, the dish that elevates DragonEats from excellent to unforgettable, is the beef tri-tip. Tender, deeply flavorful, and impeccably seasoned, it’s a quietly brilliant offering that rewards repeat visitors. This is not fast food; it is food made with intention.
Equally impressive are the beverages. The Thai iced tea is luxuriously aromatic without being cloying, and the Vietnamese iced coffee delivers a bold, concentrated depth softened by silky sweetness. Both are among the best examples of their kind, balanced, refreshing, and unmistakably handcrafted.
What ultimately distinguishes DragonEats is its atmosphere. It feels family-friendly, welcoming, and timeless, as though recipes and rituals have been passed down rather than optimized. There’s a comforting sense of continuity here, a place where freshness isn’t a buzzword but a daily practice.
DragonEats doesn’t chase trends. It honours tradition, values quality ingredients, and treats every guest like a regular. That quiet confidence is its greatest luxury, and its greatest success.

While opinions may vary, I personally did not enjoy my 5spice chicken sandwich. The meat texture was off and slightly slimy, my bread didn’t taste fresh and I gave up on it after 2 bites. My partner couldn’t tell me if it was tuna or chicken… On a positive note, the Thai tea was fantastic and not overly sweet. The service seemed pretty rushed, but we were the last customers on a Saturday and they were pretty obvious about wanting to leave. They were stacking chairs and turning off the lights while we were waiting. Honestly, I wish they would have just turned us away and said they were closed… I could have saved some money and they could have gone home. Win win.. but I doubt I’ll be returning…

Delicious food made and operated by kind people sold at a great price, especially for their shop being in the heart of Haight street.

This might be the best pork banh mi I’ve ever had. The bread alone was delicious and they did not skimp on ingredients. It was stuffed to the brim and the tastiness was on fire. I was there just before 11 but they had the door open and offered to serve me anyways which was really kind. Perhaps that contributed to the ingredients being so fresh. We also got a thai coffee which was really good but of course very sweet.

Food was super. Baguette on the Bahn My sandwich was perfect. Noodles were great too. All ingredients fresh and plentiful. Staff was friendly. Service was quick and prices inexpensive. Very simple, small, but authentic place that was good, filling, clean, quick, and cheap.

Really solid, and super cheap, banh mi and spring rolls. The banh mi are made on lovely crisp french bread.
I typically order the Roast Duck one, unless it’s sold out, at which point I’ll spring for the Roast Pork one. You can also order the spring rolls to go, and eat them later in the day for dinner.

I was really craving Vietnamese food that reminded me of my favorite spicy “chicken” tofu Bahn Mi back in New York. Despite not ordering a sandwich, I was very happy with my fresh shrimp rolls and teriyaki tofu bowl. Service was very quick, items are reasonably priced, and the cherry on top was the simplified menu. If you know what you’re good at, there’s no need to have an extensive menu like the Cheesecake Factory.
