We found this on our drive home from Florida and so glad we did! It’ll be our stop for now on!
Loved everything we had…even my picky wife loved their hamburger!! 2 of us ordered the Country fried steak special…it was so big and so good, we couldn’t finish them!
Oh and of course we had to get 4 different pie/cake deserts !! All homemade of course
Definitely a great place to stop and eat and drink!!

Food was good, decent price and good amount food for price. Service was good. We sat on side away from bar area so it was a bit more quite. Would have rated less on atmosphere if that part was not available. Had awesome older pictures, and signs. Would go back. Wouldn’t take kids because of the bar side though.

Happen to be in town a few days with my family and wanted to swing by this place. I have always been a fan of the Hawkeye, and I knew this place had a connection. I was pleasantly surprised, by everything! I was with a party of 8, they had no problem accommodating us, and the service was superb. I enjoyed a French dip, and I truly mean enjoyed. Everyone at the table had nothing but rave reviews about their meals. We definitely tried out the drink menu, it was also good, too good! If I were in town this would be a regular spot for me. Affordable, great service, and an abundance of delicious options.

I ordered the “12 oz” ribeye with mash & gravy, Mac n cheese & green beans plus cheddar cheese balls. First of all, I don’t know which part of the cow this steak came from, but it was at least half fat. Not marbled, just blobs of fat. (See photos). The meat that was there had good flavor & was cooked correctly. The mashed potatoes were passable and the brown gravy was tasty. One bite of the Mac n cheese was enough for me (flavorless & gloopy) the green beans were straight from a can with ZERO seasoning. The cheese balls were the highlight of the meal and the house made ranch was amazing. Service was good. My thin, fatty steak costed $32- thats $20 too much if you ask me. Anyway, $54 wasted.

An excellent restaurant! Food was outstanding with very generous portions. The tenderloin is so thick. The mashed potatoes and gravy were heavenly. Everyone left very well satisfied!

Restaurant was not busy. Food still took over an hour to be served. Then was HORRIBLE all the way around. It’s one thing to wait for amazing food but this was such a terrible experience. One of us ordered a taco salad which came out 15 min later than every one else’s food and was delivered cold and stale. Another ordered a “medium-well” ribeye which came out rare and was sent back, only to come back out again and be medium RARE. It was nearly all red. That’s not medium-well by anyone’s standards. I ordered the Chicken fried steak. It was burnt and hard as a rock, which they attempted to just hide by the smothered (flavorless) gravy. I showed the server it was so tough you couldn’t even cut into it. I bet if it was thrown it would have broke a window. Not only was this restaurant absolutely horrible, it might actually be one of the top 3 worst I’ve ever experienced!!! If give it zero stars if I could! I wouldn’t recommend it to ANYONE! Server was friendly and acknowledged the kitchen was slow and food was horrible saying they get “nothing but complaints” and it “makes it hard to work there.” I can empathize with that but as a server you have a duty to look over what you are serving. To bring someone an under cooked (to their preference) steak, not once, but twice, after already taking an hour to serve is reflective on you also. You are a team! You succeed as a team and fail as a team. I’ll NEVER go back, even if they offered me free food to try to again. It was that bad!

We were both tired after traveling all day and looked for something easy. Interesting place and busy. We figured out that they offer a buffet (fried chicken, mashed potatoes, ribs, etc.). Food was good and constantly replaced because it was busy. They do also have a menu but the buffet was not disappointing.
