Payne’s is the best bar in Downtown Leesburg, imo. I’ve been going here for years and always love the dive bar vibes of the place. Most recently, my husband and I had a small courtyard wedding ceremony at the courthouse across the street. Afterwards, we had a small party at Payne’s. The manager and bartenders were so friendly and welcoming to our entire group, even allowing us to set up in the back room. If you’re looking for an unpretentious, fun, and long-standing local water hole, you can’t go wrong with Payne’s.

The weekend was full of fun and entertainment as the Leesburg Flower and Garden Festival took place. The weather was absolutely amazing this year. During my Sunday afternoon escapades, I decide to stop in for some food and coffee.
The bartender was 5 star for her great personality, service and welcoming smile. The food was good. The herb whiskey is worth a try.
You are able to smoke within the bar area. Exceptions are also made to bring your dog in to eat with you. Awesome.

First place we stopped after dinner. We first saw the small trump sign. Then we noticed the photos of Confederate generals. Then we noticed the signs like “alcohol tobacco and firearms…who’s bringing the chips” and “can the last one out of Mexico turn off the lights” and “uncle Sam says speak only English.” This isn’t Americana, this is the worst of America. I shudder to think what would happen to anyone not white who walks into this place.

Tyler was our bartender and the best bartender around! He was very attentive and usually it’s hard to find a place that makes my drink correctly and he killed it on the 1st try!! Highly recommend.. we had a couple burgers and they were delicious! Friendly staff and patrons… 10-Stars thank you Tyler for the awesome experience…

It says no smoking but there’s no restrictions. Everybody can smoke. The waiters in my case Victoria was super aggressive and demanded that the standard tip was 30%. She stopped us on our way out and embarrassed herself saying that the standard tipping is 30% Tells you how entitled she feels

Nice people/customers, bartender had a terrible attitude. Older white woman, she charged us extra for a drink we never got. I almost got sick from the beer on tap there, it was disgusting. I couldn’t finish it. Their tap lines probably haven’t been cleaned in years. I would recommend only getting bottled drinks. I would never go back if not for the experience/atmosphere.

Parking is tricky downtown, but there are spots along the street.
The food is decent and priced for the area. The beer is cold and has a solid selection of draft and bottles.
There are pool tables, a jukebox, plenty of seating too.
The building is historic and the establishment has been the for a long time, if the walls could talk the stories would be captivating!!!
This place has the right amount of everything for an off the beaten path kind of place yet conveniently located in the bustling down town of Leesburg.
They have a monicker “better here than over there”; the courthouse is across the street, one would like to agree it’s better in the Downtown Saloon!!
