Cute little hidden gem. The food was fantastic and savory. We went on a Monday night. There was a family celebrating someone’s birthday. But it wasn’t loud. Very enjoyable evening. I look forward to returning to try something different.

I wanted to take a new friend to try out the Downtown Peru and it did not disappoint!!! As usual, they served fried corn as a little snack before our appetizer and food came out, which is such a nice touch. We order Arroz chaufa con Pollo and and one with camarones. Make sure to have space for dessert, we split a cheesecake de maracuay (passion fruit taste) Everything was flavorful, and the atmosphere was great.
Laly is an amazing chef! You can tell she takes pride in all that she makes!! Can’t wait to come back again…..

Tried out Downtown Peru and it did not disappoint! We both ordered the half chicken, I got sweet potato fries, and my husband got yucca fries. Both were delicious, and the salads were fresh and crisp. They even served fried corn as a little snack before our food came out, which was such a nice touch. Everything was flavorful, and the atmosphere was great. We’ll definitely be back

Great service, amazing food and super clean. Great Hidden gem. I had the shrimp, steak and chicken chaufa, very fresh, very flavorful and perfectly cooked. My mom had the 1/4 chicken with fires, perfectly seasoned, hot and fresh. Baked empanadas did not disappoint. We had 1 of each, i definitely recommend.

This is the 3rd time eating here in 2 weeks! We’ve tried something new each time! The food is not only fresh but flavorful and light! Laly is an amazing chef! You can tell she takes pride in all that she makes!! Can’t wait for my next meal!!

Downtown Peru is exceptional, healthy, and chef/owner, Laly Acosta is the real deal.
My first visit I had arroz con polo (not pictured) and cheesecake de maracuya (pictured) for dessert. It was all very good.
Tonight, I went in for my second visit and ordered the 1/2 chicken breast with white rice and salad. It was exceptionally good! I loved it. The mustard-mayo type sauce served with the chicken… phenomenal. I recommend pouring the sauce over the rice to eat with cut-up pieces of chicken onto the separate dinner plate. The chilled salad bowl heightened the enjoyment of eating it too. It all goes to show the thought & effort Chef Laly puts into her dine-in experience.
For dessert, I highly recommend her coffee because it is definitely quality-sourced. Chef Laly’s coffee is much better than your run-of-the-mill diner coffee. It is exceptional. And during this visit, I ordered Choco Lucuma (pictured). Yes… it is as good as it looks.

What an exciting experience of flavors and kindness! My daughter and I enjoyed every bite.Our server made excellent recommendations and the owner is absolutely a sweetheart. Hammonton is so lucky to have the amazing taste of Peru with such style in their beautiful town.

Everything was delicious! I had the Lomo Saltado, it was the best I’ve had in a long time. For dessert the Alfajor and the Tres Leches were great!

Decent but not anything to write home about. We made reservations although they were not necessary since the place was nearly empty on a Friday night. With only one table occupied, we had our choice of where to sit. Once seated, we asked what the recommendation was for best dishes. We opted for 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes. The server recommended ceviche and said they have incredibly good paella, so we ordered both. All the food was ok, not anywhere near incredible. The paella was just plain yellow rice with a bit of seafood, not even a great presentation. The ceviche only one of us actually enjoyed and it wasn’t me. Although the patrons from the other table finished and left, our server only checked on us once, which left a lot to be desired of the service. We will definitely not be returning.
