Now on to the food. They give you complimentary rolls. At initial sight, I thought they were burnt…but in actuality, they were perfect with a hint of sweetness. The accompanying garlic butter sauce made them even better. We ended up getting more rolls when the food came and they were not as brown as the first ones and not as good either. We started with the Fried Oysters Melanie and Shrimp & Jalapeno Poppers as appetizers. They were both decent and the shrimp in the poppers were really fresh. For my entrée, I had the Shrimp and Grits. The grits had great flavor and texture, the andouille sausage was tasty, but the shrimp was a letdown. The whole dish sat in a pool of grease. By this point we were full, so we ordered the White Chocolate Bread Pudding to go. The bread pudding was bland and the white chocolate sauce was really watery and lacking flavor.
To sum things up, the food is average at best. That’s not a bad thing, but for the price, it’s not worth it. If this place were to move their price point down some, I would probably visit regularly.

I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately that was not the case. Downtown Grille serves Louisiana type fare. However, I live in New Orleans (but Greenville is home) and the food did not meet the mark. I ordered the crawfish Mac & cheese and it was terrible. I had to add salt and pepper to add additional flavor to the cheese sauce. The crawfish were plenty, but their flavor was no-existent. It was gross. I also ordered the hot tamale boudin bites. They were pretty good, but something weird was in one of them and that was a turnoff. I also ordered 2 drinks. They were good, but the bartender went heavy on the ice. I requested light ice on the 2nd and still received a glass full of ice. The other individual ordered the potato crusted salmon. The salmon had no flavor and the cheese grits were basic. I could have made better at home. Overall, I spent $100 for 2 people to eat and there wasn’t nothing fantastic about this meal. I won’t be returning.
Server invited me to stay a while to get some work done, even though the kitchen closed at 2. Nice people!
I ordered two dishes. They were the lobster and corn soup and the blackened catfish with crawfish sauce. Both dishes were delicious. I was this close to not order the soup but I am happy that I ordered it.
The lobster and corn soup was amazing. It was well seasoned. Everything was well cooked. The taste was well balance. I enjoyed how the chunks of lobster was cooked. It was tender enough to chew. Not chewing enough to make you chew for hours. Just well balance.
My secondary dish, is the blackened catfish with crawfish sauce with rice. The fish was well blackened and cooked throughout. The crawfish sauce is complimentary to the catfish. Both taste amazing and was season perfectly.
I only hope to have received more rice lol.
Overall, it was a great experience!
