My family and I visited Downtown for a couple of birthdays. The restaurant’s ambiance creates a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal setting for pleasant conversations. The diverse menu caters to all tastes, offering a wide range of flavors. I highly recommend the New York Strip Steak with Peppercorn Sauce and Risotto. The staff is incredibly accommodating and goes above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for each guest.

Downtown by Jay Pisculli is hands down our favorite go-to spot. From the moment you walk in, the modern ambiance sets the tone sleek, stylish, and effortlessly cool while still feeling warm and welcoming. The vibe is over-chill yet elevated, the kind of place that works just as perfectly for a casual night out as it does for a special occasion. It strikes that rare balance of being refined without ever feeling pretentious.
One of the standout touches is how personal the experience feels. On occasion, Chef Jay Pisculli himself will come by the tables, checking in and connecting with guests, which adds an authentic, thoughtful layer that you don’t find everywhere. The food is consistently top-notch elevated, beautifully executed, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients and serious attention to detail. Every dish feels intentional and memorable.
The service is equally impressive, especially at the bar. The bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly, and dialed in, delivering excellent drinks with a level of care and professionalism that elevates the entire experience.

The food is really great. You might think it’s a little bit pricy here but the quality of the food is worth for your money. I love every dish that I’ve tried here. The oysters are fresh, the bread is so soft, the octopus is so tender and the pork chop is very juicy. The staffs here are also generous and friendly. I’d recommend this place for sure.

Beautiful trendy restaurant with great ambiance and space for dates, dinner with friends and family. I came in solo while visiting and sat at the bar for an early dinner. It gave nyc vibes which I loved. . I ordered sea bass provided with bread as an appetizer. The sea bass was a little lackluster and could use more flavoring, perhaps salt. The warm bread with butter provided was so delicious and better than the meal in my opinion. I didn’t try the cocktails since I had a long drive but plan to return to explore other entrees and drinks on the menu when in town.

Mocktails were pretty good, bread was too salty and the butter lacked salt completely which you think would add up but it however did not. I loved the fried burrata and the Bronzino but shitake mushroom ramen had too umami/salt but not too bad overall. I think i would like to visit and try the food again when its not too busy for restaurant week in there. Good place overall tho 🙂

We finally made our first visit to Downtown by Chef Jay Pisculli and were not disappointed! This was hands down some of the best food we’ve had (ever) and it 100% topped any of the local upscale eateries around here. We had the fried deviled eggs for an appetizer which were absolutely incredible and so different. For our main course, my husband and I both had different versions of their pork chops that were enormous (double the normal thickness) and perfectly cooked through – and not too mention, the sauce was to die for! Our waitress was super friendly, absolutely on the ball and provided great service throughout our dinner. The chef came out to our table and personally recommended our main dish which was such a nice touch. It was absolutely the best pork chops we’d ever had! Lastly, the cocktails were beautifully creative (and even the mocktale I had was sooo good ). We cannot wait to come back here and try out more of their food!

Year later review:
Delicious
Perfect steak
Didn’t leave hungry

Pros: -Immediately greeted with a smile.
-Dining room clean, good lighting, outdoor seating great.
-Compound butter good but lacked salt.
-Bread nicely baked. Not dry.
-Filet Mignon great sear. Delicious for being well done (wife’s choice).
-NY Strip great sear, great seasoning
-Risotto great. Fries great (love how they are done)
-Will go again
Cons: -Server did not write anything down -> wouldn’t have an issue if a $55 steak wasn’t being served cooked beyond customer wishes (NY Strip was nearly well done when Med Rare was requested) (Receipt indicated “Medium” which was also incorrect)
-$12 sundae although delicious was severely lacking in size.
-Still slightly hungry after leaving.

Our experience here was great. Hank is a true bartender and knows what he’s doing, which is something my husband and I really value when dining out. He was attentive, asked all the right questions and made us feel taken care of. He made us perfect dirty martinis – which if you know martinis, you know is actually not an easy task. The burger and chicken sandwich were delicious and we loved the bread and butter candle. No notes there. Caesar salad was good but could be better. Would have appreciated a creamier cheesier dressing. I like the lettuce coated in grated parm. We would definitely come back to try more!

Loved this place! Will definitely do the drive again from Cortland to enjoy. Great service. Amazing food, pork chop, filet, eggs, shrimp, bread – all fantastic. Sea bass, was okay. Not a great cut of fish and a bit fishier than sea bass should be – but still the other components were amazing. Alicia was a fantastic waitress, attentive informative and kind. Great bourbon born and lovely wine selection. Even accommodated the kids with chicken cutlets and fries. Already looking forward to our next dinner, thank you!

We came here for an early Valentine’s Day dinner and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing, and so was our waitress! The gnocchi with the pesto was the best I’ve ever had! The corn brulee was just incredible! There are a lot of unique creative food options that are super flavorful and tasty, and we can’t wait to come back and try more of them. A very romantic atmosphere! Also the “selecting your own” blade for the pork chop was pretty fun!
