I’ve been coming to this deli for 4 seasons now and it’s absolutely perfect everytime. As a local, I highly recommend the Thanksgiving! There is not a better one anywhere!!! Hands down. This is a bagged lunch to go that comes with a bag of classic lays potato chips. Downeast Deli is and always will be a Bar Harbor staple. Go enjoy your lunch on the shore path or Agamont Park! Or drive around and enjoy the scenery until you find a fun place to park. Thank you Robin, the owner, for feeding so many of us locals and non locals alike. Stopped in for a late lunch and ordered two 4 cheese sandwiches, one on white bread and one on a sub roll. The sandwiches are just average, the sub roll was a little stale and fell apart as I ate it, the cheese was fresh as was the lettuce and dressing.
The box lunch comes with a small bag of chips in addition to the sandwich.
Not a bad place for lunch, it’s quick and easy, take-out only.

Tiny deli, so there is no seating. You walk in, place your order, and go out and wait by the benches. After 5 minutes or so, they bring your order out. We had a tuna wrap and two BLT sandwiches, and they were delicious! Heaps of fresh and washed lettuce with lots of tuna/bacon. Price was fairly reasonable, considering it is on a busy tourist street. It is nice to get a break from lobster or fried food. Friendly and easygoing attitude with a smile makes the whole experience even better. Give them a try when you don’t know what you want to eat.

We ordered their After Thanksgiving Dinner sandwich and it’s delicious! Loaded with turkey, stuffing, cheese and cranberry sauce. The white bread is soft, fresh and a perfect vehicle for the ingredients. Service was friendly and fast. Such a surprise to find a high quality deli in the middle of a tourist town. Awesome small sandwich shop with awesome friendly, quick service. I live in a resort area so I know the challenges associated with running a small business who rely on tourist dollars and the lure of making a buck before the season ends, but Down East Deli’s focus on great customer service, good food, and affordable pricing breaks away from the tourist trap mould. Even if they charged a few dollars more, they would be worth the price and still be cheaper than other nearby establishments. Great job!

We stopped by here to grab lunch sandwiches for our long drive back home. The guy who helped us was nice and service was super fast. My husband got a roast beef sandwich and I ordered turkey with provolone, lettuce, with mayo and mustard. We didn’t expect anything amazing, but had a feeling things would taste fresh. My turkey sandwich was probably the best I’ve had in a while. It was fresh and so yummy. Perfect lunch, worth the price.
