As always, food and service was excellent, even while busy a bit busy. Of all the places I have tried on Amelia Island, the Downunder has the best burger. The fish & chips (with the Blue Chips) is always great also. Since moving away from the area I only now get to eat here once or twice a year and I find it as good every time like they have never missed a beat. This place is truly an asset to the area.

This was Christmas Eve and they were closing early so were a bit short handed. We still got good service. Ordered a bottle of Franciscan and each got Fish n Chips. The wine was cold and in an insulated bottle. The fish was crisp and hot, and the server was helpful and nice. We sat out on the deck and really enjoyed the beautiful day!

I wish I would’ve taken more photos. We did the crab dip and it was 100/100 stars! Also our service was absolutely exceptional! Cole Mann kept the drinks and food coming. We were so grateful to have someone so full of life and eager to tell us different facts about the menu and seafood local sourcing. He talked us into the seared tuna and oysters along with our seafood platter and the salmon! So great!!! Delicious food—I tell people how they can point at anything with their eyes closed and order something phenomenal. I always suggest friends try whatever the special is! In my several experiences over the years—this place is the best around!

First time here. Waitress was super sweet and very attentive. Staff were all friendly as well. I ordered the Grilled shrimp tacos and they did not disappoint. I also ordered a side of hush puppies. There were four total. Three were perfectly cooked sadly the forth was very much over cooked and not edible. The atmosphere was adequate. Not too noisy. Had good conversations with friends and it was easy to hear one another. I will go back as I’d like to try another dish. Or give it an 8 out of 10.

It’s easy to reach, definitely under the bridge. I had the blackened shrimp tacos, the fried oyster-shrimp combo, and a loaded Bloody Mary. The highlight was the she crab soup — I could have easily enjoyed a whole bowl of that.

The Downunder is the perfect waterfront dining experience. This seafood gem absolutely delivers. We timed our dinner with sunset, and watching the sky turn shades of orange and pink while the light reflected off the river made the evening.

My husband and I cruise the river and pull up your boat or jet ski and dock right by the deck. It’s incredibly convenient and adds to the laid-back coastal vibe. Whether you arrive by land or water, it’s easily accessible and welcoming.

The food was just as impressive as the view. The Oysters Rockefeller were outstanding — rich, flavorful, and perfectly baked with a delicious topping that complemented the oysters without overpowering them. I also loved the blackened Caesar salad. The seasoning had just the right kick, and everything tasted fresh and vibrant. It was hearty enough to be satisfying while still feeling light. Bloody Marys are delish as well.

Between the beautiful sunset, riverfront deck seating, boat-friendly access, and standout dishes, this place is a must-visit for seafood lovers.

We thought it would be a good thing to try this place. It was pretty crowded, but we found seats at the bar. We expected poor service since it was a very busy night. After ordering drinks, we ordered an appetizer. It came out in just a minute. We had ordered broccoli and cheese soup. It did not look like that, and I ask what it was. They confirmed it was their broccoli cheese soup. It did not taste like that at all, it was cold, and I’m not sure what it was other than disappointing. Then our meal came out, again very quickly. We had the fried shrimp and oysters. Awesome. There is nothing like ice cold greasy fried shrimp and oysters. They obviously had prepared these hours in advance and just sat in on a cold shelf, not even attempting to keep it warm. Yuck. Will absolutely NOT recommend the food here.

We loved this place. We had the crab cake, the spicy shrimp, and the fish and chips. The crab cake was fantastic. We were not impressed with the shrimp, but the fish and chips were awesome. For me, the hush puppies were the best I have ever had. Charity was our waitress and she was super attentive and sweet. Every staff member was friendly and the restrooms were nice and clean.

I love this place. It’s always fantastic. We live a little over an hour away, so we’ve only ever gone when I have doc appointments down there, but I think we’re going to just start going! That’s how good it is. I don’t like driving 20 minutes to go to the store! But I’ll drive an hour+ for that seafood platter, that crab cake, and those down under oysters!!

We wanted somewhere with some indoor seating and some good seafood, the Down Under did not disappoint!! It is technically not on the Island but in a Neat location under the bridge that connects you to the main land. Food was great and there were enough tables for a few hundred people. But not much of a crowd, granted we did eat early because of our infant but would have liked to have some more energy in the room. But no complaints about the food, nothing fancy they just did everything right as well as offer huge portions. It’s a little bit of a drive if you are staying seaside but I HIGHLY recommend this place, especially if you want some Air conditioning some good basic seafood, no frills just good eats!
