Great food. Bartender Madeleine is great. Too crowded and too loud for me. Older crowd typically. We finally made it in time on a Thursday to get lasagna. I prefer the pizza, but lasagna was good.

5 stars!
To resolve the issue, my brother-in-law offered his passport ID as an alternative, but she refused to accept that as well. We are both in our mid-thirties, clearly not teenagers attempting to deceive her (maybe she thought we were undercover cops, I don’t know). She then boasted of her recent training and licensing. The class instructed her to confiscate IDs that are not Federal Real IDs if they show yellow, as they’re deemed fake. While we appreciated her decision not to confiscate the ID, doing so would’ve forced us to involve law enforcement to address such an injustice.
Take caution when visiting this establishment. We were not warmly welcomed nor given a fair shake.
Edit: In response to the owner’s reply-
That may be fine as a general rule, but it obviously has its limitations. You’re free to double down that it’s a hard fact, but it might have been wiser to consider the totality of evidence and work with us using more official means of verification. You could have used Montana’s License Lookup service online, a UV light to reveal state seals on the card, used a driver license scanner, or simply accepted his Passport ID (conveniently not mentioned in your reply, with no reasoning given for its refusal, btw), just to name a few.
It’s alright—you lost customers due to your refusal of his licenses. We were happily accepted elsewhere this evening without hassle.
If you’re reading this, your experience may be different. If you’re a regular, please keep enjoying. If it’s your first time, perhaps consider a more accommodating establishment.
In a few years, when all states and drivers have switched to Real IDs, this issue will resolve itself. For us, we won’t be returning, nor will our family or friends.
