Food was good it’s in a truck stop so that is odd.
Staff was amazing. Food was good. If you scared to take your familey to a truck stop diner don’t. You will save the seats for the ppl that want good food!!!! Don’t be scared go eat it
The food got there faster than the road runner runs as well!

On Saturday morning, January 24, 2026, my dad and I stopped at the Down Home Diner in Cheyenne for breakfast and were there from about 8 to 9 AM. My dad is a regular here, and it showed. The staff treated both of us very well, greeted him warmly, and made us feel welcome right away. We sat at the counter, our order was taken quickly, and service stayed efficient throughout the visit. The diner had a steady but manageable crowd, giving it that classic, working-diner feel without feeling rushed.

I ordered the country fried steak with two sunny-side-up eggs, hash browns, an English muffin, and a glass of iced tea. The food came out fairly quickly. The country fried steak was exactly what you’d expect from an old-school truck stop diner—nothing fancy, but solid and filling. The eggs were definitely sunny side up, with the whites still a little runny, which may or may not be your thing. The hash browns were on the colder side, and the English muffin was just okay; I didn’t finish either of them. I’ll also admit I’m picky about tea, and the black tea didn’t have much flavor, so that was a miss for me.

Overall, this was a straightforward diner breakfast with friendly, familiar service. The food didn’t stand out, but it was consistent with what you’d expect from a place like this. What really made the visit was how well they treat their regulars, especially my dad. This is a good spot if you’re looking for a classic diner experience, quick service, and a place where locals clearly feel at home, even if the food itself is more about comfort than anything special.

We had a great experience at the Down Home Diner. I had the fish dinner with a baked potato, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My wife ordered the chili cheeseburger; it might not have been the prettiest plate, but it was absolutely fantastic. The service was outstanding—very attentive and always checking to see if we needed refills on drinks or coffee. If you enjoy good, honest home-style cooking, this is definitely a place worth stopping at. We’ll be back!

This is one of the best breakfasts I think I’ve had in a long time. They use real potatoes. Nuff said. Hehe. Sweet ladies work here. Good cooks and great coffee.. worth a stop in.

Pretty good diner fare – Italian sandwich was tasty but the hoagie fell apart easily. Hush puppies very good and portions generally good for what you pay, except for side items which can be pricey. Pretty busy when we were there.
