One of the best nights out I’ve had in 5ever, I loveeeeed The Dog! Cash only is fun and old school, and the drinks were strong and tasty. Friendly service, good music, better vibes. Haha I couldn’t say enough good things

Bartenders were crabby. Food took over an hour to come out, they completely messed up our order, and our food was cold. Literally eat anywhere else in town. Someone recommended this place to us, I think they were screwing with us. This place is probably the worst place I’ve ever gotten food at. Cool building though I guess.

The Douglass House Saloon is a Houghton classic! Great atmosphere, cold drinks, and the popcorn makes it even better. This bar has been here since the 1800’s. The real highlight though is the bartender, Tristen—super friendly, attentive, and always makes you feel welcome. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this place (and Tristen behind the bar) will make your night! Enjoyed having a drink for my 50th Birthday after dropping off our daughter at Michigan Tech university.

One of the few remnants of Houghton that has remained unchanged! I used to walk across the street when I lived above the Lode Theater in the late 80s. Now, in 2024 it’s still there and still the same. Go there for a pickled egg and a beer!

Full disclosure: this was my college bar and will always hold a special place in my heart. That said, I had a great time here tonight with family; playing keno and putting back PBR, pickled eggs and popcorn. Beautiful wood bar & lighting, this historic building kinda makes you feel like you stepped back in time. The “dog” makes everyone feel welcome.

Had breakfast here. I didn’t care for the omelette. The vegetables were diced and blended in with the eggs – more like a scramble shaped into an omelette. Would have given it 3 stars but my wife had the blueberry pancake and it was good.
