Though mild, flavors are agreeable and tastes are somewhat elevated.

* Beef Pancake Roll harkens very much of fusion, a flaky Chinese burrito.

* Spicy Beef Shank makes for a fragrant appetizer, though the spice level and Sichuan peppercorn could have been increased by three notches at least. Same can be said of the Dan Dan Noodles.

* Dumplings and Xia Long Bao (soup dumplings) are true winners. Try the pan-fried Q-BAO, bringing together the very best of a crispy potsticker crunch, soft chewy steamed bun with a mouth-watering flavorful broth upon first bite.

Stylish and sleek interior makes for a good dining option with family, friends or a date.

It’s more like an American Chinese restaurant. We love the service, the clean dining area and the relaxing music. Food is just ordinary. The dish size is extremely small though the price per dish is also cheap.

Was always curious by how packed this place was on the weekends so we decided to try it out for early dinner. The XLB came looking deflated and the top had dried flour. Almost every single one had soup already leaked out. The flavor is decent but I suspect these are machine made. The knot at the top of each XLB is undercooked and way too uniformed – it looks like it was stamped. The dan dan noodles was unimpressive – really small portion (think shitty instant noodle portion). The Q Bao (sheng jian bao) looked undercooked – not enough crisp at the bottom and right upon first bite, you can tell this was machine made. The dough is dense and had zero bounce. At least it was juicier than the XLB. Will not be back.

The place is nice! The portion for each dish is kinda small so I would recommend 4 dish per person. But the small portion (reasonably priced) give you the option to try out more flavors!

The beef noodle (牛肉面)is the best and I will order again! The spicy and sour noodle (酸辣粉) is average and I wouldn’t order again!

The fried dumplings (锅贴)are great! I would 100% recommend.

Their dumplings are soooo good!! Noodles are great, dumplings are great, gyoza is great, it’s all delicious. I’m a big fan of the pork xiao long bao, and the spicy cucumbers. The service is super fast, and the prices are so reasonable. It also has a super cute interior, and great location in downtown San Mateo!

XLB wasn’t bad but not hot enough. Dan Dan noodles were good but too spicy and rich for my taste. The boiled pork dumplings were probably the best of what I tasted today dipped in the table sauces. The street pancake thing was a little crispy but way too dry I had to stuff it with a dumpling and noodles to make it edible. Service was mechanical.

Great flavor. Discover this place because our target place is full and we were hungry for a small lunch before dinner. Glad we came here to eat. Everything that we ordered were great. Highly recommended the Q-Bao and Dan Dan noodles. Service was very fast and great.
Next time I would like to try other noodle dishes and pot stickers.

You can waitlist on yelp to avoid waiting in line and it took about 20mins for 8 tables. The presentation of the food was good but the taste was mediocre at best. Most of the dishes were salty and did not have much flavor other than tasting like soy sauce. I wouldn’t recommend their xiao long bao or beef pancake. Their noodles were okay compared to the other dishes. This was my first and last time trying this place because of the high ratings on yelp and my family and I were disappointed with the food. The positive side is the prices are around 20% cheaper than other restaurants but the portion is a bit smaller.

If you don’t care too much about the atmosphere or nice decor, there are quite a few similar restaurants within minutes away and more authentic which you should try instead.

Soup dumplings were great with flavorful broth. The Dan Dan noodles had the most szechuan/numbing spice in any dish I’ve ever eaten and we basically suffered through it. If it wasn’t just a bad batch, then definitely don’t recommend getting that here. Beef cake and cucumber was tasty and as usual.

Food: 6/10

Came here as a group of six and didn’t even have a wait and got seated immediately.

Good:
– SO much variety of dishes here – I loved almost every single one of them, having been a visitor of the Cupertino location I just have my favorites.
– I love the wonton soup with chicken and veggies
– I also love how the cucumber looks beautifully presented
– Great xiaolong bao
– The yibin noodles are my favorite
– Service is so fast!
– Easy online ordering
– Cheaper prices than most dimsum places

Bad:
– Portion sizes per dish are small

Overall this place is casual, just what you expect, and an easy in and out. Would come again!
