We were seated quickly and handed a small order sheet. At first the process was a little unclear, but once we scanned the QR code on the table and pulled up the full digital menu everything made sense. The online menu is one of the best we have seen, bright and clean with clear photos and detailed descriptions that actually help you decide what to order.
We chose Green Onion Pancake, Dan Dan Noodles, Beef Pancake Roll, Yibin Noodles, and Beef Steamed Dumplings. Every dish came out fresh and hot as soon as it was ready, and each had its own distinct flavor rather than tasting the same. The dumplings were juicy, the noodles were perfectly textured, and the pancakes were crisp on the outside and tender inside.
For dessert we shared the Pumpkin Dumplings with whipped cream, which were light, slightly sweet, and a really pleasant way to end the meal.
The restaurant itself feels clean, modern, and inviting with an elegant Asian inspired look, and the soft background music kept the atmosphere calm even when the place got busy.
Overall Dough Zone is a great addition to Federal Way dining with excellent food, reasonable prices, and a fun ordering system once you understand it. We are looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.
Super clean and bright. Service was very attentive. We enjoyed all the food. The noodles were yummy. Good amount of spice with the sauce. The scallion pancakes were crisp and made fresh. They actually took the longest to come out, but they were worth the wait.
Soup dumplings were yummy. Thin skin with good amount of soup in each. I couldn’t really tell the difference between the pork and chicken.
The pork wontons were also yummy with the chili oil. Again, nice tingly spice on my tongue, but not over whelming.
I thought the cucumbers were a good crunch with all the steamy food we got.
Additionally, their service was kind of rude. I was chewing my last bite when the waiter walked up and handed me the checkout phone device thingy. It was like they wanted me to leave the moment I was finished.
This isn’t a place for Michelin star atmosphere and service. This is a place for people who want decent food at a good value where you can get your food relatively quickly.
Since they opened over a year ago I’ve stopped here many times for lunch and dinner and if you want a dumpling house that won’t break the bank while also remaining decent quality, this is your stop.
Pan fried pork bun (four mini bao per platter), pork and/or chicken soup dumplings and won ton with chili sauce are definitely MUST ORDER items on your visit.
Sweet n sour cucumber is a delightful starter, but I’d SKIP the steamed broccoli as the accompanying seafood sauce neither matches the dish, nor is it appealing.
Ordered the cold noodle (ooh that sauce!) and DanDan noodles (yum, that addictive chili numbing “burn”) where both were springy and chewy and enjoyable. Curious if ALL their noodle dishes are as flavorful?
All in all a pleasant dining experience however I can’t help wondering if these small plates are really worth the hype – or price?
