The best ribs ever!!!! If you want to try the real Texas bbq look no further!!! I was passing through Amarillo during my roadtrip through route 66 and wanted to try some authentic Texas bbq. I had seen a couple places along the highway in Amarillo but all looked like tourist traps. Doug’s was completely the opposite! The environment and service are outstanding, they are really nice and down to earth people and you can tell they enjoy what they do. And the food…I had some ribs with call slaw and it was mind blowing. And believe me, coming from Argentina my standards are quite high when it comes to eating meat and bbq!!!

A+ I love this kind of BBQ joint. Real smoked BBQ in a down home atmosphere. The service was great; quick, friendly, relaxed and informative. The meat (Sliced beef and pork ribs) was tender and flavorful. The sauce was well paired with the meat; tomato based with a nice kick of hot pepper. The potato salad was also prepared with a knowing hand. Not too much mayo and a little extra vinegar. You could taste the potatoes, which is a pleasant change from most modern potato salads. I didn’t care for the beans, I thought they were plain, but my wife liked them. Even the homemade sweet tea was good. The 2 meat plate we ordered was big enough to split between two people with a little left over to bring home. I loved the old school look of the restaurant but some people might like something a like more polished. Overall, an excellent lunch, worth another trip next time I’m in Amarillo

Don’t believe the reviews. If you know SMOKED brisket, this is the last place you want to go. Probably the worst brisket I’ve ever had. It was… food. Literally like an oven baked pot roast. It 100% was not smoked on any pit. Zero smoke, zero flavor. In fact, it tasted like old oven baked pot roast that sat in the fridge for a week. I had to take bites of my mediocre potato salad just to cover the taste of it.

Worst food I have ever had!!!! Cafeteria style slop!! Flavorless and Disgusting!!! Even their barbecue sauce didn’t have any flavor. Felt like I was eating dog food. They’re peach cobbler tasted it had been sprayed with chemicals!!!! So disappointed on all levels such a waste of money. Man …. You want good brisket?? This is it. This is the most tender brisket I’ve ever eaten with a nice piece of fat, and they delivered to me through Uber Eats. I have driven past this place thousands of times and told myself I was going to try it one day. I am so glad I did! True Texas BBQ. And the ribs fall off the bone, potato salad was good, beans were amazing, and I even liked the Cole slaw, which I normally don’t eat but this was SUPER fresh and tasty! As well the portions are generous. One plate was enough for 2 people. I will definitely be going again! ❤️

Not sure where all the good reviews came from. I stopped by on a Monday when coming back from CO. Tyler’s was closed. The meat was gray with little flavor. I wouldn’t even say it was mediocre. Sorry, but I won’t be back.

This place has a lot of promise. The reviews are consistently high and when I pulled up the smell in the parking lot was a siren’s song lulling me into the front door. However, it’s fairly difficult to give a review when they don’t have my top three meat choices to choose from.
They were out of pork ribs and sliced beef.(I presume brisket.) And they don’t offer pulled pork, to my dismay. So I went with the chopped beef, which was my fourth choice. It was flavorless mush and I cannot recommend it. The potato salad which served as my side was good. The chopped beef sandwich, potato salad, and sweet tea were $12.00, shown below.
I remain neutral at this point.

As a traveler I stumbled across this place from the reviews, it absolutely DID NOT DIsSAPOINT! FROM BEGINNING TO END AUTHENTIC. Now, from what I understand there Is new owners and the guy who just bought it has been struggling to find help but making it happen very well! The food was out of this world, I had the chopped beef sandwich (with sauce) and some potato salad both were delicious. They had all the fixings too (peppers, pickles, onions) I can’t say enough good about this place. I don’t know what it tasted like 30 years ago, but I know that today when I went april 21st 2025, I had some excellent food with great service. Check them out now , thank me later. You’re welcome.
