I was excited to discover a Double Dave’s closer than Denton. I did not read the reviews as it did not occur to me. Wow what a disappointment. No buffet. This is not a normal DD restaurant, but a dump of a bowling alley/bar (former Lakewood theater) that happens to serve food. We waited 20+ minutes for our order of 2 strombolis. They are still delicious and taste like other Double Dave’s so the recipe is right. But we had to ask for plates, utensils, drinks and napkins. All disposable. We couldn’t get finished and out fast enough. We were the only customers at 1pm on a Saturday until a couple guys came in to drink at the bar. IDK how they stay in business. I feel bad for the staff.

Ordered pickup online, and when I arrived there was a huge party going on. Turned out they hadn’t even started on the order I’d placed 30 minutes before, but was left to wait for 20 more minutes in the lobby before they let me know “we’ll just cancel it for you”. Totally understand you are busy, but maybe block orders if you’re not going to honor them or reach out when you receive an order you know you can’t fill. Instead, you made your customers’ dinner plans a dumpster fire.

So dissatisfied. Ordered online and went to pick up food when it was supposed to be ready. The oddball at the register said that it would be at least another hour but I could just cancel my order and no delivery was available. He was rude and clearly had no sense of customer service.
Food has always been great but doubt I ever return after that experience. Be warned about ordering any take out.

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of DoubleDave’s. This is NOT a typical DoubleDave’s – this is bowling alley food with no service, lots of attitude and poorly prepared pepperoni rolls. I’d rather drive to the burbs to get treated better. We ordered 1/2 dozen, paid for a dozen and didn’t care because we just wanted OUT. So disappointed.

I only go for one thing: Pepperoni Rolls. The Pepperoni Rolls here can be a little under-sized compared to other Double Daves I’ve ordered from. Such issues feel minute especially since the next best thing about this Double Daves is it’s location. It’s over and hour and a half to the next nearest Double Daves. It’s usually clean inside. Service is prompt and if you need help ask Billy. He’s the elastic waistband holding this Double Dave’s together from all other aspects. Cant picture this place without him. I recommend this place for fans or pepperoni rolls and bowling.

The food here is all rotten due to negligence from the so called “owner”. This franchise decided to not pay its employees so the “owners” can pay their royalties. Double Daves as a franchise should really watch this location as it poses a major detriment to their brand. The food is laughable and i would imagine they are way behind on their loans. Wouldnt be surprised if they shut down any day now. Go to Black Friar for good food. Dont waste your time on the bowling lanes, none of them actually work.
