Double Happiness does not disappoint. The Wrightsville Ave location was a neighborhood favorite of mine when we lived in Wilmington. After moving away in 2013, we have to have it again anytime we were in town. This time we visited the Ogden location and had a wonderful dining experience. This is not fast food Chinese food (although they do offer to go). It is so nice to have authentic Chinese food in a relaxed fine dining atmosphere. When we were there this past week the food was amazing! Not only did we have a wonderful meal there, we got a couple entrees to go to warm up for dinner the next day. May gave us pointers on reheating the food and it was also delicious. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Tony and I started with fried shrimp that came with a sesame sauce.
For our entrees, he had the “Ants climbing a tree” and I had the Mu Shu pork. Both were excellent. Big portions! Leftovers!
Our friends had the spring rolls, beef with broccoli and general Tao’s chicken. Also very good.

I love Double Happiness! Large portions of delicious food. Our waiter, James, was great giving information and suggestions. I had leftovers. Not because it was bad, but because it was so much food and I wanted to savor it again! The pictures is how much I took home.

So I went here last week to get some food. I’ve been a couple of times, and overall, it was decent. This time, I got General Tso’s chicken, which I did not like at all. The flavors weren’t how I knew it was supposed to taste as well as the chicken was super fatty. Normally, I don’t complain, but this time, I just could not bare the taste and wanted to order something else or take it off the bill. After explaining everything 3 different times, the owner said that the food was fine and he wouldn’t take it off the bill or allow me to buy something else in its place. I said your ok with me not coming back, etc” he said, “That’s fine.” At that point, I will definitely not be going back to this place at all. And it’s 1 customer, yes, but I hope to make a change. Also, i went another time before that 15 minutes before close, and he said the kitchen was closed. As he had another guest in there making an order. Now I get it’s the end of the night, etc. I was going to order shrimp fried rice, which takes less than 10 minutes. Again, there is no concern nor care for the Patron. Service is horrible here.

What a great meal. The Asian catfish was crispy and delectable. The Tangerine chicken was sweet and well balanced, it mixed well with the pork fried rice. The service was great and the server was very good with item descriptions.

I had the best lunch date with my friend today. I have never been here before. Amazing hardly says it. I had the chicken curry. Oh my goodness! Excellent service all around. Phonomanal food. Thank you Leigh Anne and the kind lady up front and chefs.
The Hot and sour soup side was the best I have ever had. We went at lunch and left paying $24. I have left overs for 3 days. You do the math. Amazing!
