Been here a long time ago, and more recently attended an event where the food was catered by Double B’s. It was amazingly good, so we decided to come back to the restaurant.

Food:
The food was just as good as what we had at the catered event. To start, we ordered a couple of the specialty cocktails. I had the Fireside Old Fashioned with cranberry juice and cinnamon, and my partner ordered the hot Maple Cider. Both were perfect for a very cold night.

For food, I ordered the Burnt Ends appetizer. It’s served on Texas toast and came with a generous portion of meat. There was just a little bit of sauce on it, which made it easy to really explore the four different sauces they offer. I especially enjoyed the Carolina sauce, which is mustard based rather than ketchup based. The KC mild, which is more traditional, was my second favorite. Honestly, all four were good.

My partner ordered the Brisket Sandwich. It came out hot, tender, flavorful, and was a very good portion. What was super yummy, was the side of mashed potatoes. There were smooth, rich, creamy, with a few chunks.

After all that food, we still wanted to try a piece of the Peanut Butter Pie. Rich peanut butter mouse, with a chocolate ganache. Great way to end the meal.

Service:
I don’t know if this was just an off night, but the service was very disappointing. The restaurant was less than half full. We were seated right away, but then waited nearly ten minutes before our server came by to acknowledge us. From what we could tell, she did not seem overly busy with other tables.

Once we finally got water, we became concerned about how long the meal might take, so we ordered both drinks and food at the same time. The food came out fairly quickly, but our drinks did not. She apologized and brought them out shortly afterward.

The meal itself was excellent, and we wanted to order dessert, but again had to wait for the server. After dessert, we had to wait yet again. You can see into the kitchen area, and at one point she appeared to be busy organizing condiment bottles. We also noticed other tables starting to look impatient with the service.

Atmosphere:
It’s not a very large space, but it has a nice, casual feel. There is a foyer at the entrance, so you don’t get hit with cold air when people come in and out. Seating options include tables for different size groups, as well as upholstered couches that can be configured in various ways. There is also a bar that is separated from the main dining area, though you can eat there as well.

I love the food and the atmosphere, and I would come back again. I would just hope for a much better service experience next time.

Hard to believe we hadn’t heard about this place. The atmosphere was great and people were lively. The food presentation is basic, but that doesn’t affect the taste.

My wife got the burnt ends sandwich and beans. She said they were tender and delicious without and burnt flavor. I got the brisket dinner with coleslaw and beans. The coleslaw and beans seemed average to me and the brisket tasted great, but after the first few bites, it seems dry. Thank goodness for the sauces. I really liked the habanero.

The driest ribs I’ve ever had. Everything but the ribs was good. The burnt ends were really good, especially with the sauces. The cornbread hit the spot. I enjoyed the KC sauce the most. I really enjoyed the soup.

Great BBQ! Their brisket is tender and juicy, baby back ribs are the ones I recommend if you’re looking for “fall off the bone” seasoned ribs. The kielbasa was excellent as well. My favorite side is by far the Mac & cheese, best Mac & Cheese I have had anywhere. Luca was my server, He was excellent. The place is beautifully decorated. What a vibrant peaceful atmosphere for a night out. The bathrooms were spotless. Such an amazing place for downtown West Allis.

This is the easiest 5 star review to give. If you want Milwaukee BBQ, I’d argue there’s nowhere better in the city. Now, I haven’t tried east side places, but I imagine they’d be twice as expensive and not as good.

I’ve been going 3-4 times a month for the past year, and the staff is friendly, the food has never been not delicious and it’s some of the most consistent dining experiences that I’ve had. It’s the reason I keep going back. Get a fireside old fashioned, and a platter. Any of the meats or the meat of the day and I’ve enjoyed ever soup of the day, even the one that had goldfish crackers in it!

I will keep going back so try to leave a barstool open for me because if you start going regularly, you’ll end up seeing me there too.

Also I’ve done catering work for my company, and the catered double bs is also fantastic, if you’re okay with the premium, but what you get is worth it.

Absolutely amazing food. This is the second time Ive eaten here. The slaw is sweet and crunchy. The mac and cheese is heavenly, the pulled pork doesnt even need bbq sauce, the corn muffins are the best Ive ever had. Raisin bread pudding… speechless.

Had the pulled pork entrée. It was okay. Not sweet like you might expect. The beans and cornbread were sweet, not the pork or coleslaw. Nice place inside, warm and inviting.

Ordered brisket plate. Brisket was dry and too thinly sliced. I’m from Arkansas. We leave 1/4 inch of fat on the brisket, which makes for a more tender, juicy meat. The flavor was good, but I had to use a lot of sauce. Beans and slaw were great.

Highly recommend. One of the best bbq places I’ve had in the Milwaukee area. Meat was very tender and the sides were delicious! I appreciated that the portions were of perfect size. Also a very nice and clean establishment. I really appreciated the wet wipes at the table to clean your hands. Parking lot is located behind the building and service was top notch 5/5.
