I didn’t know what any of the menu items were so I just asked for whatever they thought I should try, I got 3 kinds of seasoned rice and chicken curry. All of it was delicious. The price was silly low and this could easily be a couple meals. I’ll be back soon. Ignore the fact that it is in a gas station.

I’ve tried pretty much every lunch special here, and they never miss. The food is excellent, especially the rasam, dal, and chicken curry. Anytime I’m in Cedar Rapids, this is my go to spot.

For what it is worth it, this is my first ever Google (or any social media) review. As a business traveler who had been to many places around the world for years, I found – a “hidden” gem – quite literally hidden!
I could have never imagined finding fresh Indian food inside a Gas Station in the Mid-Western USA – that too “South” Indian food – still can’t believe it!
The world best knows Indian food through Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan et al. I sincerely wish they also explore South Indian food, which equally balances taste and nutrition – not for purpose, but just as day in a life! Yes, these are some things we grew up eating on a daily basis and today I had a chance to reminisce the pure and authentic taste – thanks to Chef Leela!
“Dosa by Leela” caught my attention in Google maps and I followed the directions to go around a Gas station few times until I realized it was actually “inside” the convenience store.
I had Veg. Lunch in the afternoon – the smell and taste of Rasam took me back to my home in South India, not to mention the Sambar and authentic Potato curry. In the evening, I again drove for 1 hour back to the same place to taste the Mysore Masala Dosa – and it was so heavenly that I am unable to say it in words here.
With my growing years, I learnt Gratitude is a virtue. So, I want to thank Chef Leela for making my day at Cedar Rapids. Next time I am here, I will book a hotel as close as possible to your location.
For a Chef, or anyone who cooks, the most heartwarming review is when someone truly enjoys food from their heart. Here I am, Chef Leela & her team – thanks a million!
I will be back!!!

Your friends will laugh at you for eating Indian at a gas station, your family won’t understand, even your wife will refuse to be seen in public with you… But you will keep going back. You will keep going back to eat the curry. You will keep going back to eat the dosa. Even when you’ve lost everything, YOU WILL KEEP GOING BACK because it is WORTH THE PRICE YOU’VE PAID and you need gas.

The kindest, most helpful proprietor you could ever ask for. We tried two different dosa (ghee and curry), both of which were excellent. Tried the avocado milkshake as well, which is exactly what it says on the tin. Quite a unique offering.

The gal I interacted with was extremely pleasant, and had a great suggestion almost immediately after learning I have absolutely no experience with Indian food. Dosa Masala is definitely tasty, once I googled how it’s supposed to be eaten. I now have a very positive experience with Indian food.

Leela knows what she is doing and is such a sweet person! I am so happy to have found this hidden gem. We ordered 3 types of Dosa (masala, podi, and ghee podi) and some egg fried rice. A butter milk and some mango lassi as well. Everything was amazing and delicious. The dipping sauces with the Dosa were super good. I will definitely be back to get my Dosa fix!
