I’m a potato fanatic, so all three dishes I ordered contained potatoes. Masala Dosa, Vada Pav, and Saag Aloo. You can choose your level of spiciness on the Saag Aloo – I went with “American” and honestly probably could’ve gone up by 1, but have friends who would’ve found the American level spiciness just right for their pallets. The flavors were spot on and the dosa was apply filled, unlike some other places I’ve been where it’s just a smear of basically flavorful mashed potatoes. These were lumpy and and oh so good! The Dosa came with three difference sauces/chutney (see photos).
This is the first time I’ve ever had Vada Pav. I thought I was the only person who puts cilantro chutney in their sandwiches…didn’t know it was thing. I totally thought I made that up. These little potato … … sliders (?)… … we’re just in flavor, consistency and pure joy. I have no reference for what these *should* taste like but if it’s anything different than this, I don’t want it!
Finally, the Saag Aloo is a dish I’ve had at nearly every restaurant. What was different here was the potatoes were a nice size and not cut into tiny cubes which made for a nice balance of flavor.
All the food arrived piping hot despite traveling from the Kentlands down to near MacArthur Blvd in Cabin John, MD. A testament to both the delivery driver and the restaurant handing the driver a nice hot dish.
Tea with milk, with a hint of saffron and cardamom. The hot tea in chilly weather was just perfect. We got a masala dosa which was served with sambar and two types of chutneys. The white chutney (it was not made with coconut, I believe) was very subtle on palette and comforting. It reminded me my childhood soda experience back in India ( Kolkata). The Dosa, tomato chutney and the sambar were decent too. I ordered some chicken Hakka noodles and chilli chicken. The noodles were too good with a Smokey aroma coming from the seasoned wok. The chilli chicken was not actually chilli chicken ( usually chilli chicken should be blackish from dark soy sauce) , however the crispy spicy red coloured chicken was good though. Overall, a pretty decent place. The place was quite packed and the service was decent too.
