We found this Mexican restaurant in a small town near Middletown while searching on an app for something different. From the outside, it looked like a place that has been around for many years. It’s not falling apart, but it definitely feels a bit outdated and like it hasn’t been updated in a long time.
When we walked in, it was almost empty. There was only one waiter and just one table for four or five people seated. No one else was there, so at first I thought, “uh oh, this might not be good.”
Surprisingly, the food was actually very good. I ordered the steak fajitas, and compared to many Mexican restaurants, they were using real pieces of meat instead of the cheap cuts you sometimes get. The meat was tender and flavorful. My companion ordered another Mexican dish with the same type of beef, and it was also good. So on the food side, it was a pleasant surprise.
The service was fine, but very quiet and a bit dull. The waiter didn’t have much energy, almost like he was tired or not very engaged. The place itself also lacked atmosphere. The typical slow Mexican music was playing, nothing lively, and the restaurant just felt empty and without much energy.
In the end, the food was good and the service was okay, but the overall vibe felt flat. It’s the kind of place you’re glad you tried once, but it doesn’t really make you excited to come back.

Have never written one review in my entire life good or bad. So upset I paid all this money for a.” California burrito” A.k.a. a bunch of rice wrapped in a tortilla with a sliver of shredded chicken.

The rice and beans had good flavor even if it Looks unassuming. The quesadilla was delicious and very juicy. The beef was tender as well! The salsa was not spicy but had a nice flavor. I will return for more!

When I ordered my burrito it was huge. I got shredded chicken, which I expected to be shredded like pulled pork. It wasn’t. The burrito was filled with Rice ALONG WITH MORE Rice on the side. Not being a rice fan, it was too much rice for me. I wanted to taste the burrito, not rice. Menu read California Burrito with choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, some dressing, sour cream. Nothing mentioned rice. The shredded lettuce, tomato sour cream was on the side, along with unmentioned rice. Next time, there will be a next time, I will know enough to say, “hold the rice”. The place was beautifully decorated and servers were very nice and accommodating.

Dos Amigos is a special place due to decor, the food and friendly service. Any dish we’ve ever tried did not disappoint. The chicken soup is a delectable delight and is so hearty it can be a meal in itself. It is also so reasonably priced.

My granddaughter turned 21. She wanted to go here. Everything was great, the good, the service, the atmosphere. They also had a man and a woman singing and playing guitar at tables. Was very nice.

Amazing food! We got fajitas and the cheese and chorizo appetizer. Delicious! We also got beers and top shelf margs! The place is beautiful, so many interesting details, it’s like a traditional Mexican art gallery✨
