The best food in Pensacola is being served late night inside a Wizard of Oz themed bar.
We’ve followed Steel Pony Diner since their breakfast days in West Pensacola, and honestly, Chef Eric is still unleashing banger after banger. There is so much love and dedication poured into this menu. The BBQ burger, BBQ dog, Fall River Fries and the Portuguese soup are 10/10, but I’ve genuinely never been disappointed with anything on the menu. We even went twice in one day back when they were at Gather, and the quality hasn’t skipped a beat downtown.
We aren’t really “nightlife” people. We used to be homebodies, but Dorothy’s changed that for us. It’s one of those rare third places where the vibe is easy, the patio is humongous, and everyone is genuinely welcome. Whether we’re there for Karaoke Thursdays with Dustin or trivia on Tuesdays with Nathan, it just feels like home.
The cocktails are top tier (all the classics plus fun themed drinks), the bartenders are some of the kindest in town, and I love that they support OASIS Florida.
If you want a spot that’s social, full of flavor, and zero pretension, this is it. It’s the first place we take friends and family. Just go! You’ll probably be back sooner than you think.

We went to see the Wizard (of Oz theme) expecting that would be it. Wrong. The Dorothy part was fantastic the art and memorabilia was cool; but, the folks staffing were wonderful, fun, friendly, informative and super nice… And, while that would be enough, the did was better than I could have expected. By far the best food I’ve had out (at any priced point or fancy ⭐ rating) in a long time. We’ll be back with friends and family!

This bar is so cute. It’s Wizard of Oz themed, and quite big. Lots of tables and a huge back patio. The food was pretty good too. We tried the chicken sandwich and turkey club. Both were great. There’s even a pool table. I’ll definitely be back.

What a great place to hang out for awhile! Nine of us filled two tables and had drinks and dinner from the restraunt which provided a great variation on some standard (and non-standard) dishes. We’ll be going back.
