Dorothy Mae’s Soul Food Kitchen is about good food being served to family and friends. It’s about a mother, Dorothy, who had eight children and was married for forty years. She gathered any food she could find and made it delicious, making it sing in your mouth!
Autumn Leaves
I was in the area and needed something good to eat — I can’t stomach much fast food, so when Dorothy Mae’s popped up, I knew it was a go. Let me tell you… it was *absolutely amazing!* We didn’t even make it home — we tore it up right in the car.
The fried chicken was seasoned to perfection, the greens and mac & cheese were full of flavor — just downright tasty. The service was warm and super helpful with the menu. I live in South Fulton, but trust me, I’ll be back.
I grew up in a restaurant my grandma ran for over 30 years, and this food took me right back. I’m from Detroit, and this meal truly melted my heart. It’s real soul food — the kind that feels like home. ❤️

The food is great! You must stop by and order anything off of their menu. I cannot complain about their fish and wings! That is mostly what we get from there when we visit. The staff is really nice when we visit and I haven’t had a bad experience. The seating arrangement is different due to the location setup but all you have to do is drive to a nearby park and enjoy your food or eat in your vehicle. If you start eating it in your vehicle, you probably won’t stay driving. Beware! Run to this place don’t walk!

Dorothy Mae’s is top tier ! I am from NC, so I KNOW good soul food. When I tell you they know what they are doing back in that kitchen, THEY DO ‼️ The customer service was amazing as well. The staff brought a container of fresh outta the grease catfish for us to sample as we waited for our food. It was delicious ! We ordered some of everything on the menu and it was all amazing, cooked to order, and so flavorful. I brought a piece of sweet potato pie back to the hotel for dessert and can’t wait to try it. On their web page, it appears they are moving from Boxete to their own spot in Tucker, GA in a few weeks. This gem is terrific and they offer a catering menu as well. The prices are great, too.

I stopped by here one morning as soon as they opened and ordered the fried catfish, collard greens, and mac & cheese. The catfish was hot and perfectly crispy. The mac was made the traditional soul food way and was right on point. The collard greens were so good I ordered another large container to take home. 10/10. Highly recommend.
SN: The restaurant is not in a very obvious place that you might expect and GPS may take you to the wrong side of the building. The restaurant is located in an office park next to what appears to be some sort of culinary institute. Kind of tricky to find this place but well worth it.

Nice Little Pop up kitchen Restaurant in Tucker. Carry out only and card payments, no cash. 3 things I look at when going to a new restaurant: Service. Price. Food taste.
For Dorothy Mae’s
Service was awesome.
Prices a bit steep [if you’re cheap)
Food is Top Tier Delicious!!!
I have to mention also how well the food was packaged up. Great job on packaging!
We had some of the best catfish I’ve ever eaten in Georgia. For sides we had Collards, mac and cheese, yellow rice and green beans. All the sides were good, well seasoned and tasty. The Chef let us sample the baked chicken while we waited and I was blown away. It was perfectly flavored and better than my own baked chicken. Definitely getting it next time. The Cornbread muffins are a bit sweet but tasty as well and pair well with the savory meat seasoned collard greens. We also had whole chicken wings. They were outstanding to me. Hubby felt they were too big but still tasty. Lol!
We spent about 60.00 which was a bit more than planned. Was it worth it? Yes a thousand times yes! Please check this place out even if you don’t live in the area. It’s worth the drive and the price. Don’t sample it in your car or you will eat it all before getting home. The food is that good!

Man, listen… I’m sitting in my car right now eating this food because I literally couldn’t even pull off. It’s THAT good. I forgot I even had fish at first because the yams and mac & cheese had me locked in — both are absolutely amazing. The whiting alone? Top tier. The food is so hot and fresh that I know I could’ve driven 15 minutes home and it still would’ve been steaming.
I got the Mac & Yams Fishbowl for $13.50 and a sweet potato cheesecake, and every dollar was beyond worth it. I wish I took pictures or videos because the presentation was on point, but honestly I was too busy savoring every bite.
This food is wonderful, no exaggeration. This place is top tier.

I have you know I stopped in the middle of eating my food to leave this review. Now this is soul food. The mac and cheese was definitely of the best quality. They used Sharp cheddar. The fried wings were big and they were cooked in the right type of grease. The cornbread was decent. The potato salad was excellent. Overall this is a good soul food place and I’m happy I finally found one close to me.
