I stopped by Doozy’s Diner in Catonsville today for a late breakfast around 11 a.m. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but inside it has an eclectic charm with turquoise accents, benchs with pillows, and it’s interesting artwork. It definitely feels like a neighborhood diner where a lot of locals gather, and it was a little noisy with families and kids and everyone in close quarters. Our server, Adele, was very friendly. I had the Santa Fe omelet with brisket, which was good, but the real standout was the smash browns. They are crispy, well-seasoned, and delicious. The bacon and French toast were also really good. My friend’s pancake(flippity flapjack) was made had a noticeable flour taste, so it wasn’t quite the fluffy buttermilk style she expected. prices were reasonable (about $26 for my meal with sides), and it’s seems like a solid local spot; especially if you try the smash browns.

Service was good and fast. I really enjoyed my shrimp and grits. It was a good portion and a fair price. I don’t think they’ve raised prices since i’ve started coming here. The potatoes are always good to have as a side. My partner said the biscuits and gravy tasted good, but they were not warm. The gravey was full of sausage, but a little runny. Will be back.

1st and last time to dine at Doozy’s that’s for sure.

Steak & Sunnyside Up Eggs- Sunnyside Eggs should had been cooked a lil longer.
The steak upset my stomach.
The potatoes were bland no onions, green peppers, or even salt and pepper…….just over fried potatoes that needed flavor from some where.

Cajun Shrimp w/Tomatoes – Best item that we ordered. Shockingly, it was flavorful. The portion was perfect .

DIY Egg Omelet – This item turned out to be extremely expensive once add-ons are added. Eggs are eggs

Brisket – taste like it was packaged and squeezed out and microwaved. Really! Just awful! Take it off of the menu.

Coffee was ok

Rye Toast was bland. It tasted like wheat. I had to do a double take. Hmmmm?

Reasonable pricing, just don’t add items to make your dish appealing to your own taste buds.

Being that everything except for the Cajun Shrimp is bland patrons should at least have fresh salt and pepper shakers.

To Management – Reviews are comments for you to evaluate how to improve, not to be offended. We paid $100 ($15.73 tip) for only 2 people at a diner without it being an upscale restaurant, hmmmm. Yes, some flavor should had been added to meals.

Also, Sbarro’s isn’t a fine dining eatery, just a pizza shop with a good slice of pizza.

I don’t get a kick out of eating expensive bland basic food. Therefore, rating establishments that aren’t worth a 4 or 5 star rating should not receive them just because they aren’t part of a chain. I always include compliments when they are due, which I did for your location.

Tasty brunch options, I really enjoyed the chicken and cornbread French toast. The normal French toast were also great. Excellent option for a weekend brunch with friends.

Doozy Diner is a cute and quaint spot nestled in Catonsville, offering a cozy, colorful atmosphere that immediately feels welcoming. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made my first visit feel warm from the moment I walked in. With so many glowing reviews, I was excited to finally give it a try.
I ordered the shrimp and grits, a dish I typically consider a comfort-food staple. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. While the portion of shrimp was generous, the creole-style sauce and tomatoes were so overpowering that the grits—usually the star of the dish—felt lost. The shrimp themselves were a bit stringy and lacked flavor on their own, and the grits were more watery and soup-like than creamy. I also couldn’t detect the cheddar that was listed as part of the dish.
Of course, this comes down to personal taste, but overall the shrimp and grits were just okay. That said, Doozy Diner has a lovely atmosphere and great service, so I would definitely return to try other menu items. I just wouldn’t recommend the shrimp and grits.

Doozy’s is my favorite spot in Catonsville. I’ve had several different menu items. All of the appetizers are delicious (the brussel sprouts are my favorite). The Doozy bowl is is a flavor bomb. Everything they serve is well made, well portioned, and well priced. The staff are attentive and friendly.

If there are a lot of people eating it can become a bit loud, but generally it’s all very tame and easy to hold a conversation. The decorations and design are great, it feels homey. The spacing of the tables and layout of the diner maximize seating without feeling cramped.

If you haven’t been to Doozy’s you’re missing out.

First time eating breakfast at Doozy’s. They offer several breakfast options and everything sounded delicious! We arrived right when they opened. My husband ordered a burrito which was HUGE! It lasted him a few meals. I ordered sausage gravy which was a good portion size as well. The cinnamon roll was also soft, sweet, and delicious. Cold brew coffee is on the stronger side. The hot coffee was pretty good tasting – one of the better restaurant coffees. All the staff were great. My only negative – my coffee was luke warm and my food (sausage gravy) wasn’t hot either. I do not like to complain, so I didn’t not mention to the server. Once I had a refill of coffee, it was better. The server told me the coffee was brewing when I ordered – which makes me think the mug was cold? Maybe same with the plate used for the food? Not sure why either were barely warm.
Even with this, I am willing to try this diner again. I love a good local diner.

Adorable, fast and efficient service for as busy as it was (think cracker barrel efficient), and the food was BANGING! Our server Brooke was AWESOME and prompt. I typically do NOT wait to eat anywhere, it was only a 15 min wait and right up at the corner is a nice “main street” straight away to walk up and down, making the wait time seem nilch. Highly recommend, even on a busy Sunday brunch time, which is when I visited.

My friend and I visited here for the first time on 5/2/2025 around 9 am. Before you go in if you aren’t familiar with the area, there is only street metered parking which is pretty inexpensive in my opinion. Upon entering the place gives “mom & pop” shop, very quaint and intimate. The prices are okay in my opinion, we ordered the shrimp and grits add eggs and the cornbread French toast and chicken. The shrimp and grits with tomatoes and this jelly like bacon my friend said was delicious, I on the other hand wasn’t as pleased. The “chicken” wasn’t really chicken at all, it appeared to be extremely flattened frozen chicken tenders that had more breading than actual meat. Something that should’ve been on the kids menu. Our waitress was extremely kind and one of the reasons I’d return. That and the delicious shrimp and grits, that was a great serving size and only $20. Although $5 for a small glass of orange juice was pretty pricey as well, just know to get water.
