The store became known as a source of local information in addition to excellent food and service. Today, the tradition lives on in the Door County Ice Cream and Sandwich Shoppe. With super-premium ice cream produced on site, you can enjoy any of 70+ rotating flavors, as well as a long list of sundaes and other dessert offerings. We have a long list of sandwiches, soups, salads, and pizza all made to order in a historic building lined with historic photos from the turn of the last century.

Absolutely the best pizxa and icd cream in the state. 10 yrs eating out and this place is truly the best.

Pizza was perfectly made and baked. All ice cream is homemade. Unique and regular flavors.

Great indoor old style decor. Fast and friendly service.

8/22/25 – we have tried a lot of the ice cream places in Door County and this was one of our favorites! They have a good variety of flavors and are constantly rotating them in and out. We also tried a sandwich and thought it was pretty good. Decent amount of meat and ingredients included. Definitely worth the stop for ice cream and if you’re hungry, you won’t go wrong with a sandwich. Might try a pizza the next time we visit. They have a parking lot by the building with plenty of spaces. Indoor seating and outdoor patio. Also have bathrooms inside.

My mom read on one of the apps this location had 70 different flavors. But that was definitely not the case. Ice cream was alright. Maybe I chose the wrong flavor? I chose something local cherry & chocolate chunks. Not my favorite. But maybe someone else will like it better.

We ate ice cream here every night! So many ice cream flavor options and they are all delicious! Pro-tip, the waffle cones are freshly made on site! Get them with your cone!! The meatball sub was huge and delicious too! This is a local spot and the line moves fast!! The service was impeccable every night as well. We’re excited to visit again on our next trip!

Our very 1st visit to the famed ice cream parlor on our 3rd visit to Door County was a delightful experience, kids loved it; well we all did really.

Delicious high quality ice cream at still reasonable prices in an old school vibe with a clean dining area and friendly service. Next time up here we’ll definitely give the pizza a try.

Have always strived to support local especially in today’s economy and I hope for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s).

Super friendly people and just a fun place to visit! I actually can’t speak to the ice cream, but my family loves it!

What I wanted to rate is their pizza – it is outstanding! We’ve always gotten at least one every time we visit Door County and we’ve always loved it – they have the entire process dialed in and their crust can compete easily with many of specialty pizza restaurants I’ve visited – highly recommend!

Great little ice cream shop! Seating inside and outside under the trees. Plenty of parking in the rear. Like all other local creameries, just a little patience, the employees are working hard. Choice of cup or cone, free cups of water, by the pint or quart to-go is in the freezer, bathrooms are past the 2nd seating area inside, local attraction/guides/maps are here also.

Variety of Ice-cream flavors. The young lady offered sample testing which was very nice of her. The ambiance is nostalgic. Plenty booths to sit at. Good music. Clean. Left happy! . They do offer sandwiches and pizza. Fun friendly place for family.

I will be honest this was kind of a strange experience. There are two lines, one for ice cream and one for food so you can’t go to one spot to get both. Since we wanted a pizza and ice cream we had to make two purchases. Also it was unclear if the food was brought out or if you waited for it. Also it was not clear if you bussed your own table or not. Just was kind of confusing to a new customer.

The pizza was good, I really liked the sauce they used. The garlic sticks were made on a pizza crust and covered in garlic with a little cheese. They will keep vampires away that is for sure.

The ice cream was also good and the price was not terrible. I got to eat some of my wife’s sundae which was good and creamy.

Overall I would stop here again the next time I am in the area.

See update at the end!

Long time favorite location for delicious sandwiches, but it was a disappointment today.

We ordered two King of The Hill sandwiches (10.95 with a bag of chips). Unfortunately they were more like bottom of the barrel today. The buns were hard and stale. I could not bite into the top bun at all and ended up just taking it off because it was inedible. There was plenty of good quality meats and cheeses on the sandwich. The problem — in addition to the stale bread — is the whole sandwich is much smaller than it used to be and there were barely any toppings. I had a tiny half slice of tomato end on each half of my sandwich, a few slivers of red onion and 1 lettuce leaf. I would have not used those tomato pieces on a sandwich I made at home let alone one I was making to sell.

My husband told me that while he was waiting for our sandwiches to be made a woman who was dining inside came back to the sandwich counter to request more lettuce for her sandwich. She remarked she had very little tomato and onion as well. So this was not an isolated incident today just for us.

The location is nice. The restaurant is clean and pretty with lovely decorations.
The outdoor picnic area is idyllic. The new garage mural is adorable!

This has always been a “must” place to stop when in Door county but after today it will probably be a drive by. We were so disappointed we didn’t even get ice cream!

Update:
Thank you for the reply!
I appreciate the time and effort it took.
It’s good to know it’s okay to ask for more toppings. I would have probably asked for a different bun (and better tomato slices) but we took carry out so it wasn’t possible — nor could we ask for more toppings.

You are implying the bread could not possibly have been stale. It was hard. I could not bite into it.

The previous time we were there the door county cherry ice cream had crystals as if it had thawed then refrozen. I should have complained at the time but we were already out the door. So not too excited about the ice cream there either.
