First off, I would like to say I have driven by this place for years and finally stopped in today, but sadly disappointed in the service. Good selection of donuts however when it came to cash out, I was told that it is cash only. That is never a problem some local Mom and pop places are cash only and that is fine. So I was directed to the local bank or across street to the gas station to withdraw from the ATM. I had come back and paid for my donuts and made a suggestion that there should be a sign on the door that says cash only. The lady that was ringing me out said they don’t want to advertise that.
Granted, I get why they do not want to advertise that they are a cash only business because it would deter people from coming in to the establishment. However, when it comes to business tactics being transparent with your customer and clientele is always the key to winning them to come back and to keep coming back. Because not only is doughnut establishment. It is also part of a catering business. Personally, I would not want to do catering business with this establishment only due to the the ladies comment that they do not want to advertise cash only on the outside of their door as that shows distrust and dishonesty. I hope whoever is in charge of reviews should definitely reconsider being more transparent and honest.

We have been coming to the Donut Shop for many years. This year I went last week twice. The prices I was charged for 6 donuts was not worth it. Plus it cost extra for the filled donuts and not all of the cream donuts I received had any filling at all. Since they were closed I couldn’t even go in to talk to the girl. She also was not very friendly when asking her questions about the prices. It cost me $14.00 for 6 cream filled donuts that did not have filling. Very disappointed. Not sure I will ever go back.

I asked a simple question about what was in one of the donuts and got a condescending response. We picked out our donuts and then went to pay with a card and she in a rude tone said it was cash only. She told us to go across the street to get cash. The only cash only sign was tiny. Donuts were fine, atmosphere was cute. Honestly the staff could’ve been much friendlier.

Didn’t actually get to try any donuts. Pulled into the place, most of the lights were off. Was wondering if they were closed, they were open. The lights were just burned out. Staff was unfriendly. I guess we were inconveniencing their conversation with our hunger. No greeting, just said ask “Donuts?”. We made our selection then see the tiny old piece of paper in the register that said cash only. Well darn we don’t have cash. So she said to just drive over there and get cash while giving a tone that we were the dumbest people in the world. So it’s 2024…how do you not have a credit card reader? I’m sure we’re not the only ones to have gone in there with only a credit card. We got into our car, and had intentions to return, but I didn’t want them to get a dime from me.

This place shouldn’t exist in middle of nowhere Ohio, but it does and I’m so grateful for it! The risen and cake donuts were both fantastic! The cake donuts were similar to the type you get at cider mills – soft, chewy, and excellent with coffee. Oh! The cinnamon roll was exquisite. Fwiw, I’m writing this review 2 weeks after visiting because the donuts were that memorable.

I read the negative reviews, and I’m not sure why… can you honestly blame businesses for cash transactions when the cc company is getting 3-4% ? The donuts were delicious and so was the service! Of course we’ll be back!
