First time passing through Quincy Center, so I stopped by to try some local donuts. It’s cash only, but prices were reasonable. About $11 for a half-dozen regular donuts.
Their “special” donuts sat up front in the glass case with fun toppings, but one of the employees mentioned they’re basically the same chocolate or vanilla frosted donuts dressed up with extras. At $3.50 each, not terrible, but both the pumpkin one and the cookie monster one were just okay.
From their classics, we grabbed the old-fashioned and the Boston cream. Better than Dunkin’, obviously, but not my favorite versions around Boston. Feels more like a spot I’d stop by on my way to work than a place I’d drive out of my way for.
Finally had a chance to swing by close to opening. There were trays full of doughnuts this time. It was also surprisingly lively with locals despite the early hour, so I can see why the doughnuts sell out. There were some cutely decorated special doughnuts for Easter, but I stuck to my mission of trying the famous, classic honey dip doughnut. The price ($2.25) was the same as that of the marble cruller that I got last time even though there is less doughnut, so I wish it were cheaper for the size. However, it was airy/fluffy and soft with a delicious glaze. The only thing I did not like was that I could slightly taste old oil with some bites. I think I prefer the slight crunchiness of the marble cruller last time more, but maybe the crunchiness is only unique to cake doughnuts.

Stopped by toward closing even though I would have preferred my first time to be in the morning when the doughnuts would be the freshest. As expected, the majority of the doughnuts were gone by this time. I decided on the marble cruller, which was $2.25, despite the lower price listed on the menu (however, this is still cheaper than doughnuts at “fancier” places, so it’s okay). The person working there was friendly.
I heated up the doughnut before eating, and it tasted very good. I believe this is a cake doughnut, so the inside was denser. I loved that there was a slight crunchiness. The glaze on the outside was definitely sweet, but the inside was not, so it was a satisfying but not overwhelming dessert. I’ll definitely have to swing by at opening to try the doughnuts fresh sometime (I actually love that they open at 4:30 AM because it is so rare to find a place that opens that early. The fact that they close much later than other bakeries/cafes despite being open so early is also pretty amazing).
I was really wanting to love this place . I visited this morning and purchased a coffee & a few donuts. Every donut is just enormous and sickening sweet and they all seem to taste the same even though each one is a different flavor. The glaze on the donuts is just too thick and not appetizing. I ended up throwing them away after 2 bites of each since I just couldn’t eat anymore.
The employees seem nice enough
The coffee was very bland nothing I’d come back for.
I definitely won’t be back again
Donuts are alright but cash only? Are you kidding me?
Extremely misleading, no sign on door says cash only until you stand in line and reach the counter to realize this.
There is a ATM machine in the store for cash withdrawal…great idea to overcharge customers for their order!
Be ready to pay for 2 extra donuts through fees at ATM withdrawal for transaction fees but not eat them.
I will not recommend…Misleading and inconvenient business.
