Stopped in at Don’s Drive-In for dinner and was blown away. The vibe is fun and retro — exactly what you’d hope for in a classic drive-in. Staff were super friendly and patient, and the service was excellent.
We each built our burgers (added cheese + bacon) and made them into baskets with fries and coleslaw. The total came out to about $15 each, and it was worth every penny. You can taste the difference because Don’s uses real beef from 4-H livestock, not frozen patties. We also shared a hand-dipped milkshake that was thick, creamy, and perfect.
The walls are covered in 4-H letters and awards, showing how much Don’s supports the local community. That alone makes me feel better about spending money here — they give back, and you can see it.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. If you’re in Traverse City, Don’s is a must-stop for burgers and shakes.

Maybe Don’s could be considered touristy, but that should not detour you. This place is a gem. Friendly, very helpful service. The food is great. I especially enjoyed the patty melt with added jalapeños. Fantastic chili cheese fries too. Food was served quickly, too. All around exceptional experience.

I stopped by Don’s Drive-In and had a great experience… I ordered the quarter pound burger and a vanilla shake, and both were excellent. Fresh, tasty, and exactly what I was hoping for! The service was just as good as the food. Aubrey, my server, was attentive, friendly, and made the visit amazing.
If you’re looking for a classic spot with good food and quick service, Don’s Drive In is definitely worth it. I’ll be coming back when I’m up in the area.

First time here the food was amazing we came here on my birthday to stop to eat on a long drive my partner and 2 year old loved the food. Especially the box car the kids meal came in was adorable and my daughter loved it, not to mention I can’t even explain how excellent the fish on a bun was, complements to the chef we will be coming here again!

The kids and I stopped here on a recent trip to Traverse City. It was awesome! The service was excellent, and the food was delicious! My kids got the chicken fingers basket, and they agreed that the chicken was really good. I had a quarter pound bacon cheeseburger, and it really hit the spot. The fries are some of the best I’ve ever had, and their milkshakes/malts are to die for! We all agreed that this was a great place to eat!

Best shakes in town with real fruit/ice cream. Great food AND service. Always cooked fresh to order. Great chicken finger basket. Awesome onion rings! Classic drive-in American restaurant. HIGHLY recommended.

Stopped there while driving through, it was busy inside but not many cars outside. Food was great but the milkshakes with real fruit used really stood out. A little more pricey than other Drive In Diners though.

Fantastic little diner with cute booths. Their fries are nice and soft, and the burgers are very filling. The diner atmosphere and decorations are definitely doing a great job of bringing back the 50’s to their customers. I definitely recommend!

Cute little diner with great service and tasty food. It’s simple but delicious. I am usually not a fan of cherry flavored things but the real fruit cherry shake was delicious. The service was incredibly fast, and the food was nice and hot. If you are in the area and looking for something a bit more casual, I would highly recommend this place.
