Meat and 2 sides with either corn bread or roll. $12.00 a plate. They also had burgers, sandwiches & wraps that you could order to go. Nice decent place to grab a quick bite on the go.

Donnie’s Country Cookin’ feels like a mom-and-pop shop that’s lost a bit of its original charm. I heard that the original owner either passed away or moved on, and it kind of shows in the way the place feels now. The atmosphere is more functional than inviting, with a setup that reminds me of an older Chinese buffet. There are water-stained ceiling tiles, a small TV in the corner awkwardly mounted on a metal storage rack, and a massive antenna that causes the signal to cut in and out.

The self-serve setup uses styrofoam plates, plastic silverware, and single-serve to-go jellies, which adds to the overall sense that things are being done as cheaply as possible. On the plus side, the place is clean and tidy, which is a big deal for me.

The food was just okay. My omelet was cooked down into a thin, dry patty and folded over—not the fluffy texture I was expecting. However, the hash browns were a standout, with nicely seasoned chunks of potato and onion. The biscuit was also quite good, and I appreciated the fact that they use real butter instead of margarine.

Overall, it’s not a bad spot, and it still has the feel of a mom-and-pop operation, but it just seems like the planning and execution aren’t as thoughtful as they could be. If you’re in the area and want a simple, no-frills meal, it’ll do the job, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

Not what I was expecting. Not a country feel. The restaurant is actually a large open area with a counter (lunch may be cafeteria style) with a lot of wooden tables. For breakfast, you order from the employee at the counter from a easily navigable menu on the wall. Employees are friendly and efficient and the portions huge. Atmosphere is almost nonexistent with minimal decorations. The elimination of styrofoam containers and plastic cutlery for “eat-in” diners would be nice.

Donnie has now retired and breakfast/lunch are not the same.
This used to be one of my favorite places for breakfast. When I stopped in today, I thought to myself “it sure is a ghost town” considering it’s usually busy with retiree’s, police, and crews from various companies. As I waited for my food, I watched the one gentleman that was there POUR salt on his food. When I received my food I understood why. The home fries and eggs had no flavor. Donnie did not use a lot of salt etc, however, depending on your dietary needs there was always enough seasoning to the food that you only needed to add a little or none at all. The other difference is that Donnie would put the eggs in the large compartment and the home fries in the smaller compartments. This may sound picky, however, the portion of eggs is small in comparison to the amount of home fries you are receiving. I’d rather have more eggs than potatoes.
A co-worker told me lunch was not the same either. The servings were slim.
Donnie’s is a place that you could once go to and get a good breakfast/lunch for a great price.
To top it off, when I received my food it was handed to me and then she turned around and started talking to the people in the kitchen. No thank you, no have a good day, no bye…..nothing!
I will not be going back to Donnie’s and I am sure they are going to loose a lot of faithful customers if they do not return to the Donnie’s standard we all know and loved.

Mom and Pop restaurant with a big breakfast menu that sees a lot of local business. My coworkers love it. The place desperately needs a remodeling. The owners are nice and double-check orders. The food is okay to good depending on what you want.

I’ve been eating at Donnie’s for years, and now I stop in occasionally when I’m in the area. The food is generally good, but I feel that it lacks variety, and it has become boring to my palate. The owner and staff have always been 5 star and lastly the atmosphere is find, cafeteria like, so if you want to sit and eat you can. Lunch time is very busy most days, but they keep it moving. Oh, and they’re open for breakfast with a FULL menu.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I had a colleague treat me for lunch, and I wanted a refund for wasting my time and expectations!
This food is horrible. The Mac and cheese is straight cheese powder mixed water with noodles… this ain’t nobody’s home cooking. I could make better mac and cheese than that, and I’ve never made it. Terrible, y’all. The greens were canned and actually was the best thing going, but I still passed.

The”fried” chicken.. .terrible. I don’t even know what that was because it wasn’t fried. The peach Cobbler was straight from somebody’s grocery store…it was ok, but I gave it away. I will never be back and would rather eat McDonald’s before I eat here again… even if it’s free!

How is this place open? I do not recommend.

Not much variety,. Meat overcooked and dry, mac & cheese slimy. Peach cobbler was decent.

We just moved nearby and I ran in one night when my son was home sick. They let me buy just some chicken soup and explained the low price for a full buffet. I took my son back when he was well, and I think he ate for about an hour straight. 🙂 The staff was so nice, once again. I’m a vegetarian and my son eats meat, and it’s always good to find a place where we can both find plenty that we like. The desserts are good, if you still have room after the buffet. We’ve been back a few times now. Good food, great price & service. Would definitely recommend.
