Fantastic treats! Great owners. And very friendly chickens. Our favorite treats were the brownies and the maple cake.

Extra gold stars for the carrot cake whoopie pies! We are always looking for ‘Roadside Pies’ when we travel and stumbled upon Donna Sue’s one afternoon. Thank you for trusting and having an honor system in place so we could enjoy your wonderful pie and the carrot cake whoopie pies! See you next time we are traveling in your area!

Saw DonnaSue Bakes on Atlas Obscura and knew we needed to stop as we passed through. Sadly it was closed, but DonnaSue’s husband just happened to be in the yard when we pulled up. He invited us in and still sold us a blueberry pie and some amazing carrot Whoopi’s pies and maple scones. They are the sweetest people, made our day!!

The most fantastically delectable cookies I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting.
Their carrot cake sandwich cookies are divine. They remind me of a specific hostess cookie, which I can’t remember which, but it’s what that hostess cookie tries and fails to be. The flavor is so familiar.
The cookies have perfect crisp to the finely shredded carrot. They’re not too sweet. The creamy center is well balanced between the two moist cookies.
Grade A. Highly recommend.

Stopped here on a motorcycle trip for some chocolate chip cookies. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better. Donna was extremely polite and genuine. She even offered me some water cause I’m sure she know riding a motorcycle for a while is actually physically strenuous and you get thirsty. Thank you Donna Sue for your hospitality and kindness.

There is a reason for the perfect 5 here on Google. Actually there are a couple of reasons: The first is that everything they sell is absolutely, mouth-wateringly, “why didn’t I buy more?” delicious. On my first visit, I sampled one of almost everything that was available at the time… even stuff that would not normally especially interest me if I were shopping in a normal store (e.g. I’m not a huge chocolate person and definitely not a carrot cake/cookie person), and I SO thoroughly enjoyed all of it. BUT when I then found out that I was just 1 day too early for their maple-fudge-frosting-filled maple sugar cookie sandwiches (which is absolutely the type of thing I would buy anywhere it existed), I pretty much had to make a special detour back to pick up a bunch of those, and OH MY HEAVENS!! The yumminess level was truly off the charts!! I also had the pleasure of spending a bit of time with the lovely people behind the food (Donna and her husband Michael), and they are truly as wonderful as the food they create. Just an incredibly warm, friendly, welcoming family who didn’t hesitate to invite me in, take interest in my adventures (I’m road-tripping the country this year), and share a bunch of interesting history/stories about their shop and how it came to be as well. Without question one of the very, very best stops on my cross-country journey so far. If you are anywhere near their shop, I highly recommend stopping by and grabbing as many treats as you can handle! You definitely won’t regret it!

It was a nice scenic drive and well worth it. They had serval options to choose from and some were even gluten free. My husband and I were both able to find several items and were ecstatic to see gluten free waffles which will be breakfast tomorrow. The place is small but packed with lots of goodies at a great price.

This place is incredible, and a god-send to cyclists! My daughter and I were on a multi-day bike ride to Montreal and this was our lunch break option. Could not have been happier. Wonderful baked goods, cold brew coffee and a pleasant view of the ducks and geese while we sat in the shade. The food was great and being able to fill up our water bottles with cold water was a huge bonus.

I have been driving through for years on my way from Montreal and had a chance to stop by.

A highlight of the trip! Amazing cookies, super cute shop and a beautiful spot, chairs to sit on in a beautiful setting.

If I was cycling by I would think it was an oasis!

Had the chocolate chip, carrot, whoopie pie and some type of ginger cookie that was created by an amazing mad scientist baker.

Will be back!

DonnaSue’s baked goods are incredible. Everyone raves about the carrot cake cookie sandwiches, and rightly so, but my favorites are the chocolate brownies. Best ever! Someone said it well – you can taste the love and high standards given to the baking of these goodies. I highly recommend!!! Only wish it was open every day. 🙂
