Visited Dongnae in Bristol recently. The food was good overall nice flavors and well presented. However, the portions were quite small for the price, which made it feel a bit overpriced. While I enjoyed the quality of the dishes, I’m not sure it offers the best value for money compared to other places. Worth trying once, but I’d hope for slightly larger portions given the cost! No WiFi as well 🙁

Great restaurant – the Maitake & oyster mushrooms with soy butter glaze is sensational as was the Hanjeongsal Iberico secreto. Surpassed the pork belly which I didn’t think possible. Waitress was excellent too. Visited after Grace Dent’s review in the Guardian in August last year.

Would kill to go back to this place again!!!
Service was quick and nice! I came as a solo traveller from California and was able to chat up with the nicest waitress!!!! She was so nice to tell me where to get take-away korean foods, since take-away isn’t allowed in restaurant.
And the food though!!!!!!! OMG THE FOODZZZ
If you’re a fan of truffle, you MUST get their tuna truffle balls. It’s better than, anything else pleasurable in this world lol. Their mushroom bibimbap is full of umami and delicate flavors – quite refreshing for a korean bibimbap yet still tastes homey?!
Their beef gochujang is something I’d eat at home everyday so nothing too impressive. I did like how the beef was cut into strings instead of regular ground beef or steaks. And the pear was a nice touch.

Absolutely fabulous experience at Dongnae on New Year’s Eve. The menu was fantastic all courses were delicious and well balanced. My partner had the wine pairing, which complimented the food perfectly. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the team were really on it. Exceptional service and the kitchen was a well oiled machine! Absolutely recommended and will definitely be going back.

A real gem on Chandos Road. Great selection of dishes on the Hanjeongsik set menu, all of which were fresh, well-balanced and ultimately delicious. Came for a birthday celebration at the start of Jan (which was acknowledged – thank you!) and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I think my favourite was the bibimbap. Kim was fantastic! Excited to return.

Good Korean food with a touch of British style. Overall, if you know what to order, it’s a great restaurant. Just a little feedback on the menu it’s a bit too complicated. It would be better if there were short descriptions under each dish explaining what kind of meat is used, what’s included, and how it’s cooked.
The prices are on the higher side, so don’t expect “Wok to Walk” prices. But it’s a good experience overall great customer service, nice drinks, and the cold brew tea smelled really nice and sweet.
The table was a bit small, but the dishes came out in good order, one by one, straight from the kitchen. The sashimi was good, the meat was great, and the pork was excellent.
I’ll definitely come back again. If you’re willing to pay a bit more, you’ll have a very good dining experience here.

Wowzers, what a place! Friendly staff who explained the menu and dishes and were attentive without intruding. Truly excellent food, we went at lunchtime and took advantage of the lunchtime deal and had a couple of drinks. Can’t recommend this place enough, would be great for a casual catch up, dates, any occasion really.

I was really excited about trying Dongnae after enjoying the sister restaurant and reading about this one. The waitress did a great job explaining the menu.
Overall we thought the food was a bit flat. We enjoy the pickled bits that came n the side of the pork, but everything else need something more (chili paste, soy sauce, vinager, etc) for our palette.
I dont have much experience with Korean food so it may just not be for me.
