Dong Ba 2 Com Tam in St Albans is hands down one of the best Vietnamese spots in the area. The broken rice dishes are full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. The grilled pork is tender and packed with authentic taste, and the fish sauce ties it all together beautifully. Staff are friendly, fast, and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone craving a hearty, traditional Vietnamese meal!

Bun bo hue was delicious. Generous serving of meat. We also had the pork and prawn Vietnamese pancake, although a big portion size it lacked flavour.
We also brought combination fried rice and sweet sour pork to take away.
The rice was delicious aswell however the sweet and sour pork tasted like meatballs. I wouldn’t order those again but everything else was amazing.

Hands down one of the best Vietnamese spots I’ve been to! The food was so fresh, flavourful, and full of that authentic home-cooked vibe. My favourite is the banh canh cua with the fried soft shell crab chef’s kiss !!

Went here before couple of times but we havent been back for awhile now. Today my friend came to Melbourne from Sydney and wanted to have spicy beef noodle so we decided to give it a go here again. It was just ok. Quite a bland dining experience.
The food was average, not disappointed but not impressive. My friend said her spicy beef noodle was alright, not bad. I didnt really like my duck salad with vermicelli noodle soup. The duck was dry. The salad and noodle soup werent flavourful. Also ordered Quang style noodle soup, just so so too.
Service was ok. Ambience was quite cold and plain.

This is known as the best place in Melbourne for Bun Bo Hue according to many I know, and now it includes me. $15 for a default bowl: medium size, spicy broth. You can also add a pork trotter for 50c. Broth and toppings were delicious and full of flavor, but the pork trotter was a bit uncomfy of taste to me today. Card accepted for $20 onwards.

Not sure why I was surprised since this place is known for it, but the Bún Bò Huế here is really good. They only do one size but it comes out real fast and is full of flavour. The Mì Vịt Tiềm and Salt & Pepper Chicken Ribs are both pretty good too. The Prawn Spring Rolls are okay. The restaurant was a bit too cold for my liking the last time I went, but I do get cold easily so it could just be me.

Insect Found in Food & Dismissive Staff Response
I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this place, I found an insect in my soup noodles, and when I brought it to the staff’s attention, I was shocked by their dismissive response.
When I discover an insect in my dish, I immediately notified the staff and management, I was expecting a professional response and corrective action. Unfortunately, their reaction was highly dismissive. I was told, “It’s just a small insect/fly — we can’t always control it,” and was reminded that “this is not a five-star fine dining restaurant,” as if that justified the lack of hygiene.
Even worse, instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, they told me not to come back and said they would refuse to serve me in the future.
This kind of attitude towards food hygiene and customer safety is unacceptable.It shows a total lack of responsibility for food safety and zero respect for customers. It makes me wonder how often this happens and how many other customers have had similar experiences but stayed silent.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant if you care about cleanliness and respectful service.
Don’t worry — we won’t be coming back. Ever.

Fantastic place to enjoy vietnamese and Chinese cousins. My dad and I ordered beef in pepper sauce, chicken with cashews and Singapore noodles, everything was terrific. Service was friendly and fast. Will be returning again soon.

Clean, spacious and authentic BBH. One of the better ones around. Packed with ingredients and meat. Everything that needs to be in a BBH is in there. Great for no frills meal.
