Great place! The space is wonderful. The service was great. I heard the breakfast burritos were the best and they did deliver.
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that my hashbrowns were cold and the burritos I got wasn’t exactly what I ordered. I asked for bacon and got sausage.
We will return and I expect to raise that star next time.;-)

My family went here about a month ago when we were on vacation and loved the retro diner atmosphere! Service was great and all the lunch items we ordered were really good. My kids loved the little chocolate and souvenir shop attached. Only critique is that the menu seems a little pricey for what it is, but it’s definitely worth checking out for brunch or lunch (or at the very least, just check out the chocolate shop)!

Spectacular old fashioned candy, ice cream shop, and cafe!
Right in downtown Marquette! Fabulous selection of chocolates! Super fun ice cream choices! Did not see or eat in cafe but heard it is great! Very helpful and friendly employees!

Donkers is three places in one: candy shop, ice cream parlor, and restaurant.
1️⃣ candy shop NEVER disappoints. Chocolate rocks were a favorite when the kids were young. There is something for everyone AND you can buy just one—if you can’t make a bigger commitment.
2️⃣ ice cream! A variety of flavors AND you can build your own sundae. I love a classic banana split, but here I can totally customize the experience.
3️⃣ the restaurant, which is more like a diner. Chips, no fries. A pickle on every plate. The service was good. One person took our order, another person brought it to the table, another gave us the check.
I had the Rueben—they were out of 1000 island—I made due but it wasn’t the same. The pre-portioned meat did not remotely go to the edges of the bread. With the heap of bread in the middle—the bread was only grilled in the center—the meatless outer section had melted Swiss and remnants of coleslaw. I probably should have gone with my second choice—the BLT.
The spicy mac and cheese was good.
We did not get refills on water—probably because of the rotating table service.
It is family friendly, great views from almost any table, they have some tables outside. It is a Marquette landmark and worth the stop!

Greatest food around, even ask Obama himself (he’s been here) place is awesome between the super friendly staff and amazing service to the relaxing atmosphere and great views if you get a window seat! Plus to top it all of there is a mass selection of candy downstairs with little odds and ends of memorabilia or kids toys. Will always return here ready for the next great experience!

I recently visited Donckers at 137 W Washington St, in Marquette, MI. I had a very nice breakfast at Donckers. It’s located downtown above a candy store.. I ordered a blueberry pancake and it was delicious. My coffee was filled as needed. It was a very nice breakfast area that had a nice second floor view of the downtown and lake area..I had a nice sunrise as I waited for breakfast. A very good place to go to.

I used to go to Northern and I absolutely love the sandwiches at Donkers! The West Coast Ruben never disappoints and I love that they use locally sourced foods.

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Donckers. The servers were friendly and super attentive. The atmosphere was lively and fun. The breakfast/lunch counter is on the second floor, and there is a candy counter, ice cream, coffee counter, and gift shop on the first floor. There are plenty of vegetarian options. Our omelette and breakfast sandwich were perfectly cooked and full of yummy cheese and veggies. Breakfast came with a choice of lightly dressed greens or a half portion of hash browns. The only thing I did not like were the hash browns. They were pretty much standard foodservice fare and totally tasteless, so I would recommend the greens for the side choice.
